The Insurance Finance and Operations Specialist provides financial management, analysis, reporting, tracking and coordination along with accounting support for The Nature Conservancy’s Corporate Insurance Program which protects Conservancy assets and supports Conservancy offices around the world. The Corporate Insurance Specialist is also responsible for providing similar financial support to the Director of Business Operations as it relates to other functions he/she manages.
The Insurance Finance and Operations Specialist is responsible for: annual budgeting and tracking, running/analyzing financial reports, developing options/financial models for projections, coordinating accurate submission of insurance applications, processing/submitting invoices and monthly allocations, monitoring and tracking various insurance funds and reimbursements, maintaining logs of changes in insurance policies and limits, and working closely with the Conservancy’s insurance broker to provide assistance to individual business units. The Insurance Finance and Operations Specialist also fields inquiries from individual business units, provides written guidance on substantive insurance issues, revises the Conservancy's Standard Operating Procedures; manages Corporate Insurance files, updates the Corporate Insurance intranet site, coordinates Corporate Insurance Committee meetings, and otherwise assists Director of Business Operations as needed with all corporate insurance matters. They have a solid understanding of the concept of liability and risk management as well as insurance provisions in contracts and agreements with other parties. This position administers and maintains finance/accounting activities in accordance with The Nature Conservancy's policies and procedures and best practices in financial/organizational management.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Works toward meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and coordinating tactics for approved plans and completing day-to-day tasks.
- Coordinates projects.
- Ensures programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
- Demonstrates sensitivity in dealing with confidential information.
- Acts independently on assigned tasks and exercises sound judgement based on analysis and experience, seeking consultation with Director of Business Operations as appropriate.
- Reinforces consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provides support related to Corporate Insurance.
- May participate in complex negotiations.
- Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.
- Advanced experience with MS Office, Word, Excel, and any other relevant technology.
- Experience in manipulating, analyzing and interpreting data.
