The Director, Global Marketing Creative & Content is responsible for TNC’s creative strategies, expression and presentation, consumer-facing editorial/journalistic storylines, development of thematic campaign ideas & executions that support The Nature Conservancy and our strategic campaign priorities.  The role oversees a team of 20 people, spanning  editorial, design, photography, video and production.  The work of this executive will deliver innovative creative ideas & messages to specific target audiences across multiple platforms to elevate organizational brand and marketing goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director, Global Marketing Creative & Content is an executive leadership role that drives the creative vision, editorial, strategies and storytelling of TNC across all platforms.  This individual will be an accomplished leader who has managed the innovative creative direction and expression of leading NGO’s, global brands and/or businesses.  She/he must be highly accomplished in the ideation of Marketing campaign thematic, video content development/production, multi-platform digital storytelling, development and delivery.  She/he will manage a team that spans  publishing (Nature Magazine and Annual Report), advertising creative & brand-based organizational presentation to content creative for mobile and social media audiences.  Experience with translating long-form journalism into accessible, digital-centric stories/concepts appropriate for targeted audiences on our digital & social platforms.  Additionally, she/he must demonstrate significant experience in managing the video-based creative process. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this individual will have a proven track record  developing, motivating and managing creative teams, processes and workflows.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Highly accomplished in video content ideation, development, production & visual storytelling (via infographic, photography and design).
  • Champion and engage TNC stakeholders with our unified brand creative expression & guidelines.
  • Inspire and deliver creative thematic ideas and direction to drive strategic priority campaigns.
  • Manage a multifunctional creative team that includes Nature Magazine, Annual Report, Design, Video and Print Production.
  • Partners and collaborates with our senior global marketing leadership team which includes TNC’s revenue-driving Membership, Digital Channels, Global Communications teams as well as Brand, North America Marketing and Corporate Partnerships.
  • Collaborates with executive and senior-level executives, science & conservation stakeholders in order to enhance and align our creative marketing creative execution.
  • Exercises leadership in strategic and tactical aspects of marketing creative, and works with executive leaders to formulate, establish, and implement workflow, operations, production and asset management.
  • Financial management of department, including setting budget and analyzing results.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 10 years related work experience or an equivalent combination, including at least 5 years of senior management level experience supervising a creative & content team.
  • Proven experience and excellence in creative development; specifically, editorial management and video.
  • Highly proficient in editorial and creative ideation across digital platforms and audience segments.
  • Experience leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team and developing and fostering staff growth.
  • Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior level executives, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and/or external creative content partnerships.
  • Experience ideating, developing and executing marketing, campaigns, plans and programs.
  • Experience in program management, including broad financial responsibility and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Global creative management.
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating multifaceted strategic marketing or publishing plans and programs.
  • Excellent collaboration, communications, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Extensive management experience, including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, manage performance and help with conflict resolution on a large multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Proven ability in planning and management of budgets and delivery of annual budgets.
