The Digital Retention Manager is a member of TNC’s Digital Fundraising Department, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Digital Retention and Upgrading.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assists the Associate Director of Digital Retention & Upgrading in executing strategies to retain and upgrade existing donors.
- Project manages execution of digital retention and upgrading campaigns, including the production of digital assets (such as emails, landing pages, creative and ad copy), QA processes, management of vendor needs and timelines, troubleshooting arising challenges, and assembling and coordinating reporting requirements for monitoring lifetime value of existing supporters.
- Partners with internal stakeholders and coordinates with Conservancy business units, including colleagues in Membership and Global Digital, to lead regimented testing, thoughtful strategy, and opportunities to collaborate to achieve digital retention goals.
- Manage campaign development and execution across paid and owned media channels including email, display and paid social advertising to support the digital retention program.
- Provides reporting and analysis to stakeholders to support digital strategy and with a strong focus on retention and upgrade performance.
- Supports day-to-day relationships with third party digital retention vendors and agencies to optimize results for best performance, readily jumping into email marketing and advertising tools to assess performance and make recommendations.
- Coordinates and produces digital and internal assets (such as landing pages, creative, audience lists, and copy) needed to launch marketing campaigns aimed at facilitating subsequent gift from existing donors.
- Is lead project manager in convening and managing key internal stakeholders needed to support core retention campaigns and ensure that campaigns are set up for success from creative conceptualization to implementation and analysis.
- Is responsible for providing regular performance reporting and insights to key organization stakeholders
- Partners with the digital acquisition team to share learnings and best practices regarding donor conversion and engagement.
- Helps define the value of digital touchpoints across paid, owned and social media in a donor’s long-term relationship with TNC.
- Helps vet new vendors and projects that would further digital retention goals.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience managing client and account relationships.
- Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects.
- Experience negotiating agreements.

- Media buying and trafficking experience preferred.
- Experience working with CMS/CRM technology.
- Experience working with Luminate Online.
- Strong knowledge of current and evolving trends in relevant marketing disciplines.
- Experience cultivating and managing vendor relationships.
- Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects.
- Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong strategic instincts, including the ability to create and use data to guide decision making.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to track and manage multiple deliverable deadlines, dependencies and status updates.
- Skilled in using advertising platforms, such as Facebook Business Manager.
- Skilled in using Excel.
