We seek a Digital Content & Editorial Manager to support TNC’s digital transformation, to enhance the Conservancy’s online experience while deepening engagement of supporters and driving revenue. This position has the opportunity to help shape the digital future of our organization by being core to all creative projects in support of our global digital properties, in close collaboration with stakeholders across TNC.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Digital Content & Editorial Manager is responsible for maintaining up-to-date, meaningful, and engaging content across TNC’s global digital properties. This person will be responsible for the successful coordination, production and management of web pages and landing page updates that support TNC’s multiple business units. The Digital Content & Editorial Manager will work closely with the Conservancy’s Marketing teams to drive towards Digital’s business goals while elevating the Conservancy’s brand as best in class. This is a full-time position within the Global Digital team at TNC, reporting in to the Director of Digital Channel Strategy. It is located at The Nature Conservancy’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Manages content production, including articles, videos, digital landing pages and related assets for TNC including web properties such as nature.org.
  • Coordinates and manage an editorial calendar for TNC’s global marketing efforts
  • Reviews TNC websites to ensure appropriate and updated content, and a consistent level of content strategy across all external digital channels.
  • Thinks creatively and critically to identify new opportunities for meaningful impact throughout various marketing team initiatives.
  • Coordinates with analytics team to determine content effectiveness, execute meaningful reporting and optimize content based on performance.
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures and manage the successful operation of a comprehensive content management system
  • Develops and operationalize best practices for creating and managing high quality content at scale.
  • Designs, manages and implements multiple projects by coordinating the work of other professionals inside and outside the organization. 
  • Performs various types of SEO audits and effectively communicate results in a strategic context, including competitive keyword analysis, technical SEO audits, backlink audits, and content audits
  • Works in coordination with UX designers, technical leads, and digital strategists on website updates to drive proper SEO implementation, content strategy, and analytics tracking from the ground up
  • Conducts regular keyword research, competitive analysis and opportunity forecasting for multiple TNC marketing teams.
  • Assists with administration of budget, evaluates results and develops corrective strategies, as needed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 8 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience supervising staff and teams. 
  • Experience cultivating and managing client relationships. 
  • Experience in project management, developing marketing strategies and measuring results.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and balance the needs of stakeholders.
  • Expert-level knowledge of current digital content management systems and digital asset managers.
  • Knowledge of marketing and branding principles.
  • 2+ years hands-on UX experience highly preferred.
  • Results-driven with strong editorial judgment and ability to identify and focus on strategic priorities based on content performance.
  • Experience in managing content for the web and a thorough understanding of responsive design, HTML5, and CSS3. Strong familiarity with web principles, including section 508 and WCAG 2.0.
  • A strong understanding of informational architecture practices.
  • Experience preparing and optimizing files for web including ability to translate print graphics to web.
  • Detail-oriented, independent and well organized with a blend of technical and conceptual skills.
  • Should thrive in an energetic environment and have the ability to make judgment calls and to respond tactfully in all situations.
  • Strong knowledge of search engine algorithms & ranking strategies.
  • Proficient with SEO reporting and analytical tools.
  • Experience managing PPC, CPA, and CPC campaigns.
  • Knowledge of BrightEdge and other SEO tools and services.
  • Practical knowledge and strong awareness of current and evolving digital user experiences.
  • Management experience that includes ability to lead, motivate, set objectives and manage performance and conflict resolution.
  • Fosters an environment of creativity and professional growth. 
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, mediation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to persuasively convey the mission of The Nature Conservancy to diverse groups including donors, board members, and the public.
  • Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in relevant marketing disciplines. 
  • Demonstrated ability in managing the fiduciary aspects of planning and delivery of budgets.
