The Content Specialist & Writer is responsible for writing, producing and project managing engaging digital-first content that drives key organizational messages and communications initiatives and elevates TNC’s global reputation for thought leadership and real-world solutions. S/he will report to the Senior Writer & Content Strategist and operate out of TNC’s Worldwide Office in Arlington, Virginia.
The Content Specialist & Writer will coordinate with the team’s content & promotions unit, media relations, strategic communications directors and digital and creative marketing staff to write and produce content across multiple channels, including TNC’s Global Insights thought leadership section of nature.org, social media channels (including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) and external media properties.
Specifically, s/he will write, edit and publish blogs, op-eds, social media posts, digital features and video scripts. S/he assists with improving organizational messaging across global issue areas, and enhancing executive and organizational visibility. This position transforms complex, static information into an engaging digital content experience for the GC team’s target audiences, including business, government, funders and opinion leaders across a variety of sectors.
S/he will be trained to author select content on TNC digital platforms (including nature.org), will manage select content projects, support workflow and content traffic management, and may also support target audience research, monitoring and engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Research, outline, draft and edit bylined content for executives and select program staff – often on tight deadlines.
- Develop digital features for TNC’s Global Insights section of nature.org.
- Craft and publish social media content for the organization and executives.
- Support execution of social media campaigns for priority global conservation initiatives.
- Upload digital content for TNC’s web properties into a content management system.
- Project manage select content projects.
- Accountable for meeting assigned project goals and objectives.
- Works independently without requiring detailed management review of general work.
- Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
- Opportunity to act independently on assigned tasks and projects.
- Refers questions to supervisor.
- May act as a resource to others to solve problems.
- Experience writing or editing one or more of the following: newsletter, magazine, annual report, web-site articles/stories, donor profiles, presidential acknowledgment letters, campaign brochures, funding proposals, fact sheets, presentations, or equivalent.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects.
