The Communications Coordinator, Office of the CEO is responsible for communications and administrative support for the Office of the President. The role includes drafting gift acknowledgement letters to the organization's top donors, assisting the CEO’s communications team with a variety of writing and editing projects, and providing day-to-day administrative support.  The Office of the CEO is at the heart of The Nature Conservancy’s mission and offers a unique opportunity engage in the organization's global priorities at the highest level.

Areas of Responsibility: 

This position is responsible for providing communications and administrative support for the Office of the CEO. This includes working closely with fundraisers to draft acknowledgement letters for the CEO's signature and ensuring timely follow-up to incoming correspondence. S/he also supports the CEO’s communications team by providing research, writing, and design assistance on a variety of materials that raise awareness of Conservancy priorities among key audiences and further fundraising and marketing goals, including correspondence, blogs, speeches, talking points, and social media. 

S/he maintains the CEO's communications archive and is responsible for posting CEO blogs on multiple platforms. S/he maintains the CEO's VIP list in the Conservancy’s fundraising database and is responsible for report generation and analysis as required.  S/he also leads, coordinates or provides administrative support for special projects for the Office of the CEO, including event planning.

The position requires exceptional attention to detail, superb writing skills—including the ability to write and edit quickly in the CEO's voice and style and synthesize complex information into clear and concise written products—and knowledge of best practices in social media. The position includes frequent interaction with staff across the organization.  

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE 

  • Accountable for meeting assigned project goals and objectives.
  • Works independently without requiring detailed management review of general work.
  • May act as a resource to others to solve problems.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience writing or editing one or more of the following:  newsletter, magazine, annual report, web-site articles/stories, donor profiles, presidential acknowledgment letters, campaign brochures, funding proposals, fact sheets, presentations, or equivalent.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience working across teams and communicating with a wide range of people. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to adapt writing style to different purposes and audiences.
  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Experience manipulating, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media best practices.
  • Experience presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in donor communications, marketing, and/or social media
