The Climate Program Associate coordinates and implements internal initiatives such as support for grant management for multiple projects, organizational knowledge management, internal procedures, internal networks and project coordination for TNC’s international and domestic climate policy programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Climate Program Associate supports grant management, builds and facilitates internal networks, coordinates meetings, agendas, and presentations, and conducts other activities in support of TNC’s climate policy teams.  S/he may also assist with research on relevant climate policy issues to advance TNC’s conservation agenda. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Support for grant management, which may include, but is not limited to, coordinating reporting processes, scheduling management updates, attending quarterly finance meetings for multiple grants to the Climate Program.
  • Team coordination such as scheduling meetings, setting agendas, and other administrative functions for the International and US Climate Policy program teams.
  • Organize special events such as team retreats or workshops, including coordination with external vendors.
  • Maintain internal databases for team documents.
  • Communicate on behalf of team with staff in various programs across the Conservancy.
  • May include financial responsibility such as processing check requests, purchasing, processing invoices, and contracting with vendors.
  • May provide research and policy analysis in support of TNC international and domestic climate policy priorities.
  • Responsibilities may also include supporting TNC delegations in preparation of key international forums such as the UNFCCC consisting of hotel negotiation, coordinating nomination process, managing side event application process, scheduling regional consultations for strategic objective setting process, and other logistics as needed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree
Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.
  • Experience writing and editing promotional and informational material.
  • Experience presenting to and communicating with internal and external audiences.
  • Experience working with partners/government agencies, and familiar with public funding proposal processes. 
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership in a professional manner.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Experience coordinating complex projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams, operating units and functions to achieve optimal results. 
  • Experience coordinating team projects and administrative processes
  • Experience working across teams and communicating with a wide range of internal and external audiences.
  • Familiarity with climate policy topics and international forums.
  • Ability to manage time independently and prioritize diverse responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Experience building networks, facilitating informational sessions, increasing internal knowledge and capacity, and identifying key stakeholders. 
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in public policy, government relations, business, or sustainability.
  • Self-starting, independent worker who can thrive in a decentralized organization with minimal oversight.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Some supervisory experience.
