The Campaign Policy Associate II position helps advance The Nature Conservancy’s conservation finance, energy and climate goals, and additional organizational priorities globally. The position involves project management, meeting facilitation, strategic communications, public opinion research, conservation finance research, climate and energy policy research, and using new and emerging tools of public affairs for US and international advocacy campaigns. The position requires project managing multiple and simultaneous advocacy campaigns (such as ballot measures, lobbying, and public education campaigns) and associated work streams; facilitating meetings; social media monitoring (specifically expertise in the Crimson Hexagon platform), placing and targeting digital advertising, and social media content production; researching and producing reports and presentations on conservation finance, climate and energy policy, and other US and international environmental policy issues; supporting senior staff and field offices on public opinion research projects; writing content for special reports, newsletters and websites; and assisting on special projects as needed.

Educational Background: 
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Public Affairs, or a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3 years of experience in environmental policy, energy policy, and public affairs.

Position also requires 3 years of experience with the following:

  • Project management over simultaneous advocacy campaigns, including oversight of early planning, strategic research, earned media, social media, coalition building, consultant management, legislator meeting, and lobbying compliance;
  • Meeting facilitation; Project management coaching;
  • Public affairs expertise, including experience with advocacy and influence campaigns;
  • Environment and Energy policy expertise and experience with research and content production related to conservation finance, water policy, forest policy, renewable energy policy, climate change policy, electrical grid modernization policy and carbon tax policy;
  • Public opinion research expertise, with methodology experience in focus groups, polling, elite interviews and online qualitative boards;
  • and Social media expertise, including social media monitoring using Crimson Hexagon and digital ad targeting.
