The Bank Reconciliation Accountant provides highly specialized bank reconciliation services to the Worldwide Office (WO) Finance business unit.
The Bank Reconciliation Accountant is responsible for preparing reconciliations of the complex general ledger accounts centralized at WO, reviewing bank reconciliations performed by others, monitoring and reporting the timeliness and quality of bank reconciliation performance, preparing of journal entries, and reviewing transactions necessary to address reconciling items. This role serves as a technical expert on reconciliation issues and is a liaison between Worldwide Office and business units to ensure compliance with internal and external financial, accounting, and administrative policies and procedures. As part of this liaison function, the Bank Reconciliation Accountant is expected to communicate deficiencies in bank reconciliations in a timely, actionable manner and assist the bank reconciliation preparers with corrections and resolution of reconciling items. The Bank Reconciliation Accountant will be responsible for updating and maintaining templates and procedures necessary to complete bank reconciliations and will occasionally be responsible for providing and explaining documentation to internal and external auditors, including responding to moderately complex questions and problems from these audiences. The Bank Reconciliation Accountant is also responsible for implementing and communicating new accounting/financial procedures to non-financial audiences as well as auditors.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Reviews and/or prepares complex bank reconciliations and ensures reconciling items are communicated and resolved timely.
- Ensures programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
- Coordinates and participates in projects.
- Under limited supervision acts independently, resolves complex issues, and act as a resource to others.
- Reinforces consistency in the organization's policies and procedures and provides support related to relevant field.
- Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis.
- Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems, such as Agresso Business World (ABW).
- Technical experience with spreadsheet programs, general ledger reports and financial management tools.
- Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.

- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills.

- Non-profit accounting experience.
- May require technical expertise on complex accounting/financial issues.
