The Senior Programmer and Business Analyst is an independent strategic-thinker dedicated to continuous improvement in tackling TNC’s complex business questions and data challenges. S/he leads and coordinates internal client relationships and manages analysis and reporting projects of varying size for multiple TNC business areas with the objective of measuring program progress and efficiency.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Senior Programmer and Business Analyst is a contributing member of TNC’s Business Information and Analytics team (BIA), which provides timely, accurate and strategic business reporting and analysis for all levels of TNC’s organization. S/he supports multiple internal clients from all aspects of TNC’s business to define and measure key performance indicators and to answer strategic business questions using accepted methodologies. S/he creates analyses and reports using TNC’s CRM database and data warehouse, and other sources as necessary, and translates business data into digestible information, identifies trends and insights, and suggests high-impact analyses or directional guidance, as appropriate. The Senior Programmer and Business Analyst is responsible for designing, coding and documenting reports and queries, with a high level of coordination with other BIA team members and clients. S/he will act as a project lead or a project team member, as assigned, in the successful achievement of project goals. S/he manages stakeholder activities and expectations, and ensures analyses and reports are accurate and delivered in a timely manner. S/he performs ongoing risk analysis on projects and conducts effective issue resolution, or escalates as appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Proactively identifies and innovatively solves challenges with a client’s information needs in reporting or analysis, including engaging other TNC staff as needed.
  • Collaborates and coordinates effectively with BIA colleagues with different roles and other priorities.
  • Collaborates effectively with internal clients with varying degrees of technical knowledge to define and document clear requirements that meet business needs.
  • Acts independently among multiple concurrent projects and does not supervise staff but coordinates client or peer work.
  • Analyzes and implements end-user requirements for reporting and analysis projects of varying complexity. 
  • Acquires, maintains, expands, and conveys knowledge of TNC related business processes and relevant technologies and may serve as a mentor to other team members.  
  • Infrequent travel and overtime work.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field and at least two years of progressive experience in an IT field or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with one or more of the following disciplines: SQL, SQL Server, SAS.
  • Experience with one or more of the following disciplines: SSRS, Power BI, or similar BI tools.
  • Experience with full life-cycle of technology development and best practices.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (functions, pivots, macros, etc.).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Critical thinker with demonstrated collaborative problem-solving skills. Results driven.
  • Proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • SQL certification and/or experience with SAS business intelligence software
  • Experience designing and building reports, including data visualizations
  • Familiarity with data warehouses or relational database models
  • Experience with CRM database and/or non-profit business model
  • Understanding of project management concepts
  • Demonstrated dedication to development of customer-centric standards and solutions
