The Manager of Digital and Social Marketing drives field participation and innovation across a suite of digital communications projects and social promotions. Key contributions include developing / planning / executing promotional strategies, creating and packaging social media content, and project managing digital marketing efforts.

The Manager of Digital and Social Marketing is a key member of the North America Regional Marketing Team, sits on the Centralized Services Team (which provides wide-ranging marketing support and focused consultation to programs across the field, and reports directly to the Eastern U.S. Marketing Director.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Manager of Digital and Social Marketing serves as the strategic liaison between marketers in North America field offices and the central digital teams concentrated at the Worldwide Office in Arlington, VA. S/he collaborates on content development and digital promotional strategies. S/he is the primary social administrator for key digital efforts supported by the field, and s/he is on point for identifying and communicating information to both advance and synchronize our digital promotional efforts across our federated model.

The Manager of Digital and Social Marketing project manages initiatives which are leveraged across North America digital channels. These include TNC’s monthly newsletter, social promotional packages, and periodic policy communications kits. S/he drives strategy, develops assets, packages content, and rallies marketing colleagues to distribute through field-run digital channels. S/he reports results to improve future efforts.

The Manager of Digital and Social Marketing collaborates closely with key digital contributors at The Nature Conservancy including: field digital marketers, the digital engagement team, the global content team, digital membership team, development teams, and the Centralized Services team. Relationship management and collaboration is critical to success.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Develops written content and digital promotional plans.
  • Manages content and strategy of the monthly Great Places e-newsletter.
  • Provides consultation on social media strategy, content development, and promotion to North America operating units.
  • Designs, implements and directs multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • May supervise one or more staff member. 
  • Acts as a resource to others to solve problems. 
  • Works closely with Marketing teams to implement and create digital marketing strategies and platforms.
  • Promotes and advocates for coverage of North America stories within global promotional channels.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 5-7 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Digital experience to include base understanding of web-based publishing tools, content management systems, analytics platforms, and content scheduling tools.
  • Experience managing client and account relationships. 
  • Experience managing multiple projects including measuring results of plans and programs. 
  • Ability to travel (<5% of time).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Social media experience to include:
    • Writing and curating original and nonpaid social content
    • Community management
    • Editorial planning including creation and maintenance of calendars
    • Demonstrated knowledge in paid social media
    • Personal experience with digital / social audience creation
  • Familiarity operating within field marketing and/or federated models. Demonstrated knowledge of national / local dynamics as it relates to social marketing and promotional execution.
  • Experience leading in a team-based environment with internal and/or external partners.
  • Experience applying marketing principles on projects/programs.
  • Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends in the digital and social marketing space.
  • Conceives and writes creatively for various audiences.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner. 
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel (<5% of time).
