The Nature Conservancy’s GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) summer internship program hires undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent college graduates (2016, 2017, and 2018) to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. Our mission is to provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and the real-world conservation work that contributes to the health and sustainability of our world. The GLOBE Program recruits individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who are interested in contributing to our conservation goals in various fields. The GLOBE Program offers a structured orientation, professional training, network opportunities, mentoring program, and real work experience.
The Global Conservation Campaigns GLOBE intern will provide research, writing, and communications support for senior staff of The Nature Conservancy’s Global Conservation Campaigns team in the External Affairs Department. The Global Conservation Campaigns team consists of 10 staff who serve as consultants to our state chapters to help them create new conservation funding through legislative initiatives or ballot campaigns at the state and local level and are working in the organizations five major initiatives in the US and internationally on water, oceans and coasts, cities, land, and climate.
The team’s expertise includes strategic planning, feasibility research, public opinion polling, message development, fundraising, campaign management and training and the intern will have the opportunity to be in the middle of this work. The intern will significantly benefit our program by providing: research support for 2018 campaign plans and coalitions; marketing support; and message development.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Assist the Global Conservation Campaigns team on state and/or local advocacy efforts by: supporting strategic research, marketing, and messaging development
- Coordinate communications and logistics on projects such as coalition building meetings and campaign planning committees or for internal priorities/projects
- Attend meetings and conferences with senior staff members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Publisher
- Experience navigating the internet for professional use
- Experience with written and oral communication
- Experience with general program support such as meeting preparation, data tracking, and/or research
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with database management with the ability to produce reports
- Experience completing tasks independently
- Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks

- $12.50/per hour (undergrads) and $14.50/per hour (graduate and recently graduated level students)
This is a full-time, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 4 – August 10, 2018.
INTERN SELECTION PROCESS
