The Director, Strategic Analytics will provide direction and leadership over a multidisciplinary analysis program and team. S/he will set and implement overall program/project strategies that align to overall Membership and Marketing goals and objectives. The Director, Strategic Analysis will work with the Director of Membership, Membership Leadership and both internal and external stakeholders to develop analyses and reports in support of the incremental growth and cross-channel integration of the Nature Conservancy’s Membership program. This position requires cross-channel direct marketing experience; the ability to work with complex data sets and develop analyses and reports that will answer high-level business questions aligned with the objective of growing and refining a mature direct marketing program.

Areas of Responsibility: 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

The Director, Strategic Analytics will manage a team that creates, manages and implements key reporting and analysis designed to advance The Nature Conservancy’s marketing strategies. S/he works closely with and manages relations with other membership and marketing leaders and internal and external key stakeholders, including senior management and internal teams, to ensure the delivery of insight and analysis consistent with the vision and goals of the organization. Aligns staff efforts that match priorities set by senior management. Ensures effectiveness of operational delivery of strategic analysis internally and externally.  Directs diverse activities, develop complex practices and processes, project outcomes and initiates change.  Manages priority vendor relationships.  S/he will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices. S/he will adapt processes and implement recommended practices in order to improve effectiveness of cross-channel analytics. S/he provides staff with a variety of information to make accurate and timely decisions, and will work with a team to create analyses and reports that are accurate and updated as needed and will identify new opportunities for increased effectiveness of the membership program through analytic insight. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

• Designs and directs complex and diversified projects, coordinating the work of other professionals, and ensuring program accountability. 
• Manages multi-disciplinary administrative and professional staff.
• Develops and manages budget, evaluates results and develops corrective strategies as needed.
• Decision can commit resources for programs or initiatives in a way that has organization wide impact and affects public image.
• Lead strategic initiatives through collaboration with senior-level stakeholders in order to enhance overall performance in accordance with short and long-term objectives.
• Plans and leads new programs/initiatives that ensure achievement of department and organization-wide goals.
• Responsibility and accountability for meeting strategic goals and objectives.

Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum 10 years related work experience or an equivalent combination, including at least 3 years’ experience at a senior management level.
• Experience leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team or complex program.
• Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior level executives, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and/or external marketing contacts.
• Experience fostering an environment of creativity and professional growth.
• Experience in program management, including broad financial responsibility and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.
 Fundamental understanding of accounting, finance, membership programs, and direct marketing programs.
• Proven ability to manipulate relational data.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Extensive experience with SQL and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with PC operating systems and hardware, office productivity/graphics software and desktop utilities.
• Experience with statistical software package (SPSS, SAS, STATA, or equivalent) and basic concepts of predictive analytics.
• Web analytics experience.
• Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
• Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
• Master's degree or extensive professional experience.
• Extensive management experience including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, manage performance and help with conflict resolution on a large multi-disciplinary team. 
• Senior level experience in marketing field.
• Excellent writing, presentation, communication, mediation and negotiation skills.
• Experience developing, implementing, measuring and evaluating multifaceted strategic marketing initiatives, plans and programs.
• Proven success in building and maintaining long-term relationships with partners, vendors, board members, and senior leaders both internal and external.
• Proven ability in managing the fiduciary aspects of planning and delivery of annual budgets.
