he Director of Digital Content Strategy & Management develops, implements, and oversees a multi-platform digital content strategy for the Conservancy’s global digital properties that aligns with overall marketing goals, and provides editorial direction and leadership over global digital content. This position is a critical component of the Digital team responsible for supporting the organization’s overall digital marketing objectives and has the opportunity to shape the organization’s digital future by serving a key stakeholder in its ongoing Digital Transformation efforts.
The Director is responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of digital content and promotional strategy for the organization’s global branded website and social media properties. S/he extensively collaborates with marketing leadership to understand overall business objectives and content strategy to ensure strategic alignment across all digital platforms. S/he manages digital content specific programs and projects, including supervision of digital content and social media staff. S/he works with key stakeholders to ensure work product delivery is consistent with the marketing goals and strategies through the alignment of staff, vendors and team efforts to match priorities set by senior management.
S/he manages all aspects of the nature.org content strategy and ensures the content delivered on the website and across digital properties including social media, reflect the mission and content priorities of The Nature Conservancy. S/he collaborates with key stakeholders to align the Conservancy’s digital promotional strategy, ensuring the Conservancy digital experience is consistent across platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Develops and leads the content strategy for the Conservancy’s global branded digital properties, including nature.org and social media channels, in support of marketing’s business goals.
- Leads collaborative efforts with creative and marketing stakeholders such as Membership, Global Communications, and Regional and Local staff regarding the creation and platform-specific delivery of digital content for the Conservancy.
- Partners with marketing teams to strategically align paid and organic social media efforts.
- Collaborates with Director of Digital Analytics to analyze and actively use data and metrics to inform editorial and strategic content decisions and to create accountability for results
- Leads the digital content team in identifying new content types and delivery mechanisms that engage existing audiences and reach potential new audiences.
- Provides strategic guidance, direction, and support to local, regional, and international marketing staff on the Conservancy's content strategy and brand in the digital space.
- Develops guidelines and training materials for successful writing, content strategy and digital promotion.
- Manages team of digital marketing staff including social media channel owners.
- Financial responsibilities include budget planning and managing project budgets. Provides input to budget process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Mminimum 10 years related work experience or an equivalent combination, including at least 3 years’ experience at a senior management level.
- Experience leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team or complex program.
- Experience cultivating and managing relationships with senior level executives, Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and/or external marketing contacts.
- Experience fostering an environment of creativity and professional growth
- Experience in program management, including broad financial responsibility and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to conceive, write and edit creatively for digital audiences.
- Expert understanding of new and existing digital content delivery methods including mobile and social media.
- Proven experience with leading digital technologies, including content management and marketing automation tools.
- Demonstrated experience with social media technologies and strategies.
- Familiarity with analytics tools and methods for measuring success through data.
- Basic digital understanding and application of HTML, CSS, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner.
- Management experience including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives, manage performance and help with conflict resolution on a multi-disciplinary team.
- Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
- Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
- Master’s degree or extensive professional experience.
