The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our team as the Director of Membership at the Cooper Street YMCA Branch. Our YMCA association is located in the center of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and offers affordable cost of living, great entertainment, and many other exciting opportunities for individuals and families.

The Director of Membership, reporting directly to the Associate Executive Director, has primary responsibility in administering all functions related to member services including accomplishing monthly membership net goals, member recruitment, corporate membership development, member retention, welcome center operation and customer service. This individual should have a successful track record of fiscal management, including revenue from proven membership growth. He or she will provide daily leadership to a member services team and create and motivate a cohesive and highly motivated environment. A key aspect of this position will be connecting and engaging with members, participants, and guests by using excellent communication skills, as well as training a staff team to do likewise.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Works to coordinate all membership systems and procedures relative to recruiting, retaining, and recapturing members.
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Assists with association marketing efforts to create and implement membership and promotional campaigns as needed.
  • Works with executive and branch team to communicate all membership campaigns and events.
  • Works to meet all sales and retention goals, minimizing terminations.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, supervises and evaluates member services staff. Develops strategies to motivate staff and reach goals.
  • Leads assigned aspects of annual scholarship campaign efforts.
  • Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery areas.
  • Works to identify new memberships through YMCA corporate membership program; communicates all membership and program promotions to corporate contacts.
  • Assists in the recruitment and development of volunteers.
  • Works effectively with volunteers and the member services committee.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader certification
  • Understanding of the nature of the YMCA as a membership organization and the programs associated with membership
  • Excellent customer service skills and emotional maturity
  • Possess skills in or have the ability to gain knowledge in budgeting, fiscal tracking, financial development, hiring and supervision of staff, planning and organizing, member enrollment and marketing
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve results
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Daxko preferred

The Cooper Street YMCA Branch provides services to approximately 4,700 membership units with 50,000 square feet of program space. The Cooper Street YMCA Branch is the largest of three branches in the Arlington-Mansfield Association and includes: Workout facilities, Full court gymnasium, Indoor swimming pool, Group exercise classes, Cardio and strength training, Personal training, innovative youth enrichment programs and more!

Salary: $47,000.00 - $52,000.00
