Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Camp & Youth Engagement is responsible for leading all aspects of Summer Day Camp, year-round Vacation Camps, Adventure Guides, Youth & Government and YMCA Food Programs. He/She is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision, and development of all related camp and youth engagement programs for the Association. All programs will be administered in a manner which is consistent with YMCA goals and policies. This includes the careful selection and development of staff, meeting all licensing and Department of Health requirements, developing and implementing the program content, budget development, sound fiscal management, evaluation, safety control, marketing and advertising, and planning for future growth. Director must adhere to all policies and must exemplify the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA values of Faith, Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.  This employee must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, nights, weekends or holidays as needed. Must adhere to Risk Management and safety practices; be courteous and respectful to all staff and participants. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for maintaining program, budgets, and staff of all related programs
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff to ensure quality daily administration, program planning and implementation, as well as staff/child ratios
  • Ensure fun, safe and quality programs, curriculum and training, as well as expand programs within the community in accordance with the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA’s strategic and operational plans
  • Ensure staff and participants know and follow safety and educational procedures
  • Manage and ensure safety of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas 
  • Assure compliance with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services,  Department of Health licensing and local regulations
  • Ensure YMCA program standards are met and all safety procedures are followed
  • Visit all sites on a regular basis and ensure all standards of safety and quality are met
  • Responsible for program quality as measured through parent and child surveys and site visits
  • Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp programs and facilities and maintain proper and accurate records and departmental files
  • Work effectively with local schools and regional/state YMCA staff to ensure quality Youth & Government programming
  • Ensure safe and quality programming for Adventure Guides, following national YMCA guidelines for program implementation
  • Work closely with YMCA before and after school staff and branch staff to deliver the Food Program with excellence and ensure compliance with Food Program requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school administration, parents, and other organizations
  • Respond to all agency, parent, and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
  • Assist with marketing and distribution of program information
  • Recruit and train volunteers
  • Provide leadership to the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA’s Annual Support Campaign as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree preferred and must meet the qualifications of a Director for the TDFPS
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age·       
  • Team Leader Certification preferred
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare program as a Childcare Director preferred
  • Must be available nights and weekends for Adventure Guide campouts and Youth & Government program during non-summer months
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Possess the ability to acquire a CDL
  • Must have dependable transportation to visit sites regularly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong background in program administration, training and marketing 
  • Must have strong skills in planning, organizing, relationship building, recruiting, customer service, and program development
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and MVR- Motor Vehicle (must have insurable driver’s record)
  • Establish plans for expansion of programs and services with overall YMCA objectives
  • Ability to meet the needs of members and the community. 
  • Must be able to work effectively with a diversity of people, different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and all ages.  Interacts regularly with parents, volunteer, staff and other community leaders. 
  • Must have and maintain current CPR Pro/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens training and other trainings required.  
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00
