The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our team as the Association Director of Healthy Lifestyles. Our YMCA association is located in the center of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and offers affordable cost of living, great entertainment, and many other exciting opportunities for individuals and families.

The Association Director of Healthy Lifestyles, reports directly to the Cooper Street YMCA Executive Director and is primarily responsible for the leadership, direction and the day-to-day operations of the Cooper Street & Mansfield YMCA Health and Wellness Departments. He or She will also serve as the association healthy lifestyles expert, consulting our healthy lifestyles leadership at the branches. Experience in the areas of staff hiring and supervision, program development, fiscal management, fundraising, volunteer cultivation and community involvement are essential for success. The Association Director of Healthy Lifestyles will have the skills and experience necessary to establish a culture of quality and service in an effort to meet and exceed the goals and objectives set forth in the strategic plan. The successful candidate will model the behavioral values established by the Association and will have a passion and enthusiasm for the mission of the Y.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serve as consulting expert for health and wellness to all AMA YMCA branches, staying abreast of trends and innovation in the health and wellness industry.
  • In collaboration with other branches’ healthy lifestyles directors, create and implement health and wellness quality control measurement strategies and tools for the association.
  • Primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and wellness programs for Cooper and Mansfield, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures.
  • Foster a climate of innovation and implement appropriate strategies to ensure inclusion and access for all.
  • Chair AMA YMCA wellness cabinet.
  • Represent AMA YMCA in equipment leasing and purchasing.
  • Represent AMA YMCA with 3rd party wellness organizations.
  • Research trends in the industry, analyze data, and implement strategies for branches.
  • Develop community partnerships/collaborations in Mansfield, Kennedale and surrounding areas to ensure growth and community impact.
  • Lead evidence-based and evidence-informed programming, i.e., work closely with health systems, doctor’s offices, school districts and other community partners.
  • Direct the Mansfield YMCA effectively and significantly growing functional training programs and personal training revenue at Mansfield and Cooper.
  • Manage Cooper and Mansfield Y department budgets to ensure financial stability.
  • Provide strong recruitment, development, and succession planning processes for Cooper and Mansfield to ensure the hiring, professional development and retention of high-quality staff. Develop strategies to motivate and achieve goals.
  • Perform duties of a fitness instructor and personal trainer as needed.
  • Manage and grow Cooper Y’s Active Older Adults partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff certifications for Cooper and Mansfield Ys.
  • Employ strategies to increase member engagement and member retention through health and wellness.
  • Monitor daily operations of Cooper and Mansfield Ys to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
  • Maintain relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners; provide staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign and other committees as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in health and wellness related field; kinesiology, physical education, recreation or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader of Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Two or more years of management experience in health and wellness.
  • Must be a certified group exercise instructor and personal trainer or equivalent years of experience with these certifications.
  • Proven track record in personal training growth.
  • Fiscal management; staff management/supervision and development; and volunteer development.
  • Experience representing organizations in the community as the health and wellness expert.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the recruitment, training, and supervision of professional staff, para-professional staff, and volunteers.
  • Experienced in leading successful annual campaign strategies.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think conceptually, analyzes and solve problems, and demonstrate assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of the responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills, including the ability to make oral presentations.
  • Must have the ability to teach group exercise classes and personal training sessions if needed.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check and MVR- Motor Vehicle (must have insurable driver’s record)
  • Must possess current CPR Pro/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration, Child Abuse Prevention, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.
  • Must possess the skills to operate standard office and computer equipment, data management, and organizational skills.
  • Must obtain and remain compliant with all training standards assigned by the YMCA of the USA.
