The Program Director provides leadership and direction for Alzheimer's Association programs and services throughout the Chapter territory. Responsible for the supervision of all Chapter program staff. Member of the Chapter management team. The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director of the Michigan Great Lakes Chapter.
This position will be located in Ann Arbor, MI.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Sets and monitors adherence to Chapter program schedules to ensure minimum core services are delivered based on National standards
- Provides management level leadership for the development and oversight of all Chapter Programs and Services, including planning, budgeting and program evaluation;
- Works with Executive Director and Development Director to create and support a fund development plan for all chapter programs and services and provide ongoing information and support to secure funding. Identifies growth opportunities. Seeks grant funding, grant oversite and implementation of special initiatives;
- Represents the Association at public events, conferences, workshops and media events
- Develops and maintains relationships with related health care and social service providers
- Recruitments, trains, coaches, supervises and evaluates all chapter program staff
- Travels to chapter offices as needed to meet staff supervision and program activity requirements
- Leads program team through new initiatives or systems implementation change
- Develops strategies to market Chapter services and programs in cooperation with the Communications Director
- Maintains strong relationship with National program staff. Informs national and chapter staff of emerging issues about programs and services. Participates on national work groups as appropriate. Represents chapter at national events like Leadership Summit as requested
- Assures compliance with all Association policies, procedures, standards and applicable regulatory requirements
- Promotes Association-wide programs and initiatives within the chapter
- Designs and conducts weekly team meetings (via google hangout) and quarterly face to face events with departmental team
- Oversees all aspects of chapter implementation, reporting and invoicing for the Michigan Dementia Care and Support Pilot
- In partnership with the Committee Chair, develops agenda and conducts scheduled Board Program Committee meetings
- Attends and participates in the Chapter's Med-Sci Committee
- Oversees and directs all mission-related outreach initiatives
- Other duties as required.
Educational Background:
Master's degree or equivalent work experience in human service, gerontology, social work or a related field.
Skills/Experience:
- Five years of leadership experience in program administration including need assessment, program development, delivery, management and evaluation.
- Five years experience supervising professional staff and volunteers.
- Experience with strategic planning, budget development and management.
- Knowledge of applicable healthcare delivery systems and issues such as: Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, HMOs, long term care insurance, etc.
- Grant research and writing skills a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint) required; experience with CRM systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, delegate and meet deadlines.
- Exemplifies initiative and is flexible when faced with competing demands.
- Ability to deal with a variety of personalities in a positive manner with problem solving capabilities.
- Must be a team player.
- Ability to safely and comfortable lift 25lbs.
- Availability to work irregular or extended hours for meetings and events as needed.
- Access to reliable vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required for travel throughout the chapter territory.
