Responsible for the successful administration and operation of the Aquatics department.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages, directs and coordinates aquatics programs. Ensures high quality programs, establishes new program activities, and ensures program enrollment targets are met.
- Develops, schedules, organizes and coordinates the operating and program schedule for all pool facilities.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
- Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists.
- Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Cooperates with maintenance staff to maintain safe operational standards.
- Conducts YMCA lifeguard, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
- Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Provides staff leadership for the annual campaign and committees as assigned.
- Provides for upkeep of aquatics facilities and equipment.
- Maintains proper records and department files.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Implements survey collection procedures. Evaluates program effectiveness and responds to customer feedback.
- Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Carries out other tasks as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED/First Aid/Oxygen Administration certification. (American Red Cross, ASHI, and American Heart Association certifications are accepted.)
- Ability to direct assigned operations including supervision and development of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to use analytical, interpretative and evaluative thought in making decisions and solving problems.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Competency with Microsoft Office software.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $43,300.00
