The Florida Legacy Club Stewardship Manager II (FL LC Stew Manager II) assists in the ongoing management of The Legacy Club, the Conservancy’s recognition society for over 26,000 planned giving donors. The FL LC Manager II will build a program of field trips for all Florida Legacy Club members and some loyal donors across the state. They will act as Legacy Club stewardship liaison for all 1,400+ Legacy members in this chapter. The LC Stew Manager II implements programs in conjunction with the Legacy Club manager, Legacy Club Stew Managers, Gift Planning Manager and Legacy Club Coordinator and acts as a resource for Florida operating unit fundraisers and Florida Legacy Club members.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The FL Legacy Club Stewardship Manager helps manage and implement the daily administration and program objectives of The Legacy Club. They facilitate communication with individual Legacy Club members and philanthropy staff in field offices. They develop and implement outreach and communications strategies, including written, phone and face-to-face communications, and a suite of stewardship events.  The Manager utilizes the database (Blackbaud CRM) to update donor information, produce reports and perform analysis.  With the Legacy Club Manager and other Legacy Club team members, they work to implement and enhance the Florida chapter’s Legacy Club stewardship program and also supports Legacy Club stewardship across the organization. They work with Legacy Club Manager to accurately measure the success of evolving strategies.  They work closely with key donors and Florida fundraising colleagues and will act as an advisor and knowledge source for more junior Legacy Club staff and field personnel as needed.

The Manager will implement a small series of donor engagement field trips in the first year, which provides our donors an opportunity to first-hand experience a Conservancy or partner organization’s project site, while hearing from staff experts on the conservation work.  In the first year, working closely with the Legacy Club and Florida colleague stakeholders, they will also build a larger suite of field trips which they will manage and implement across Florida in the following years. As needed, the Manager will assist team with stewardship events across the country and handle various organization-wide queries for Legacy members both in Florida and across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
  • Financial responsibility includes working within a budget, and negotiating and contracting with vendors.
  • Manage projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability.
  • May eventually supervise junior staff, interns, volunteers and/or temporary staff.
  • May manage work of peers on departmental project teams.
  • Persuasively convey the mission of TNC to diverse groups who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
  • Travel and work flexible hours—oftentimes on week-long trips and/or on back-to-back work trips.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Experience in successfully planning, managing and executing events, trips or meetings with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience generating reports, and analyzing and interpreting the data.
  • Experience in managing and tracking prospects and donors.
  • Experience working across departments.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with philanthropy and gift planning teams.
  • Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy’s work.
  • Ability to train, coach and assist in directing colleagues on same team and across the organization—influencing without authority skills are important.
  • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-tension situations and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely from direct supervisor and team, while still collaborating closely with colleagues and gather input on various projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to responsibly and accurately manage multiple project budgets of up to $10K at a time.
  • Demonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and all levels of staff.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
  • Experience managing multiple stewardship events at once, while successfully collaborating with various stakeholders’ needs at the same time.
  • Knowledge of current trends in the fundraising industry.
  • Strong customer-service skills.
  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
