Some of the exciting things you will do as the Aquatics Director include but are not limited to:
- Creates, manages, supervises, and implements aquatic and membership related programming in accordance with the association’s mission, policies, and goals
- Provides exceptional service to members, their guests, community groups, and related agencies and trains staff to do likewise
- Manages departmental budget and meets budgetary goals
- Directs all aspects of aquatic staffing to include recruiting, training, development, performance management, supervision, education and certifications, team building, and scheduling
- Schedules aquatic classes and events
- Markets aquatic programs and events as outlined in branch marketing plan
- Maximizes pool usage
- Provides aquatic instruction as needed
- Evaluates programs and staff each session and responds accordingly
- Supports swim team with scheduling, finances, marketing, fee schedules, activities and events, etc.
- Coordinates cleaning and maintenance duties associated with the operation of a clean and safe aquatic environment
- Conducts staff meetings and in-service trainings
- Acts as a facility duty officer as needed
- Assists the Executive Director and/or Associate Executive Director with operations, policies, programs, projects, schedule and budget preparation and implementation
- Implements and promotes character development initiative in all aspects of aquatic and membership operations
- Makes well-researched purchasing recommendations to the Executive Director and/or Associate Executive Director
- Works as an interdisciplinary team leader with membership, childcare, and fitness departments
- Insures that all operating permits and licenses are current and that the facility is inspection ready at all times
- Insures that that the department is in compliance with the association aquatic policy guidelines
- Candidate must have prior experience with fundraising, financial management, facility management, program planning and program delivery.
- Gifted in relationship building and written and verbal communications.
- Experience with supervision/staff development, leadership, strategic thinking and planning, and community relations.
- Must have emergency management skills.
- Along with 5 years of relevant experience, strong commitment to YMCA philosophy and values, team oriented leadership style with focus on staff development, and experience working with people with physical disabilities.
