We are seeking a highly motivated team member who can continue to grow our cause-centered culture to build the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact through development and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies.

Candidates for this position must have strong relationship building and communication skills. Candidates will oversee all aspects of YMCA membership and marketing efforts, in addition to leading two coordinators, and over 20 part-time membership staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops annual operating goals, objectives for marketing and communications plan; Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
  • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
  • Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Develops, monitors and administers assigned annual budgets and maintains a positive fiscal position; Manages and implements the approved department budget for and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Educates staff, volunteers, and members about the charitable nature of the Y; leads assigned aspects of the fundraising campaign; Ensures a level of service and engagement that fosters loyalty among those we serve.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Provides development and leadership, assisting in onboarding of new users and staff.
  • Identifies and builds relationships with internal and/or external partners or key stakeholders, such as service groups, community organizations or companies, to support programs or projects; Establishes contacts with media representatives and writes and submits press releases when appropriate.
  • Organizes internal membership events and represents the YMCA at community events.
  • Provides and maintains related department statistics and reports.
  • Responds to IT and marketing challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner; Monitors service tickets assigned to the queue and processes first-in, first-out based on priority.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Systems, Business, Marketing, Communications or related field required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous professional experience in marketing, communication, public relations and/or sales preferred; Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software; Must have documented experience, and work samples using Adobe Design Suite and/or Microsoft Office Design Suite.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must have strong interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including public speaking and the ability to make presentations
Compensation/Benefits: 

Full-Time Benefits Include: PTO, Paid Holidays, Health Insurance, Life Insurance and Retirement; FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary: $34,500.00 - $39,500.00
