The Walk Manager position is responsible for the successful development and implementation of all Walk to End Alzheimer’s® fundraising events throughout New Mexico through staff supervision and management, volunteer recruitment, volunteer engagement and corporate development.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Responsible for achieving revenue and expense targets for the assigned Walk to End Alzheimer’s including meeting fundraising goals.
- Using Alzheimer’s Association best practices, standards and guidelines, develop comprehensive event plans that include budgets, timelines, team recruitment and retention strategies, volunteer committee development, marketing/PR and logistics.
- Supervise the Walk Community Engagement Coordinator and oversee the activities of Regional Managers on all Walk to End Alzheimer’s related activities.
- Develop community contacts to recruit high level volunteer leadership on the Walk to End Alzheimer’s planning committee and garner community support.
- Ensure Walk to End Alzheimer’s has high level leadership volunteers in place which includes the training, coaching and development of Walk leadership volunteers to reach goals.
- Prospect, cultivate and steward Walk to End Alzheimer’s teams, sponsors and walkers to achieve the Chapter’s development goals.
- Work with the Walk staff and volunteer committee to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer’s Association mission and services, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with key corporate sponsors year-round and insure involvement in relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities.
- Develop new networks of high level contacts and form new corporate alliances and partnerships.
- Ensure timely and efficient data entry process and donation processing related to Walk.
- Manage the Walk websites and all related setup, reports and information.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience recruiting, motivating and coaching volunteers in a fundraising environment preferred
- Experience in the development, fundraising and implementation of non-profit, Chapter-wide or multi-state events highly preferred
- Experience supervising the activities of multiple staff members
- Ability to effectively lead, guide and mentor staff
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to solicit donations, sponsorships and participants
- Ability to cultivate corporate relationships and network with collaborative agencies and providers
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, multitask, set priorities, delegate and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to demonstrate a strong customer service focus, work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database entry and management. Experience using Google preferred
- Ability to travel throughout the Chapter area
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends with occasional overnights
- Access to reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
