The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is the leading conservation organization working to make a positive impact around the world in more than 69 countries, all 50 United States, and your backyard. Founded in 1951, the mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. One of our core values is our commitment to diversity. Therefore, we are committed to a globally diverse and culturally competent workforce. Visit www.nature.org to learn more.
TNC, through its 20 years of marine research and application, recognizes that functional marine habitats such as shellfish reefs, seagrass meadows and saltmarshes leads to safer coastlines, more fish, cleaner waters and more places to enjoy being in nature. The restoration and repair of these habitats also creates new jobs and strengthens coastal economies and is set to become a key driver in the expansion of Australia’s blue economy.
The Marine Project Coordinator will support TNC’s marine program by helping to deliver a major conservation program Great Southern Seascapes in the temperate waters of Western Australia, with a focus on the southwest region of Western Australia. Employment term is 2 years with potential for further extension.
The Marine Project Coordinator provides technical leadership and support to TNC Australia’s marine program by planning, directing and implementing marine habitat restoration projects. They address critical threats to natural marine systems through the implementation of conservation strategies with a focus on delivering large-scale, in-water habitat restoration projects and coordinating partnerships with marine stakeholders including: government, aquaculture and fisheries industries, recreational and commercial fishers, Indigenous groups and the community. They implement a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC marine conservation priorities and may also support other conservation priorities outside of Western Australia.
