This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community.  Manages the programs for the Duanesburg Early Learning Childcare Center. Early learning programs include pre-k and k-care.  This includes staff and budget management, as well as program and service development and oversight with customer retention as a primary goal.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates the early learning child care programs for assigned daycare center. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected. Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  • Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that CDYMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living. Maintain cleanliness of the facility as a member of Clean Team.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Actively support financial development events of the CDYMCA such as President’s Award Dinner, Annual Campaign and Golf Classic.  Organizes special events for parents. Assists in CDYMCA fund raising activities.
  • Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with applicable school districts and communities.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Participate as an active member of P-Groups and committees, as requested. Assists with Program Committee meetings.
  • Provide branch building coverage as part of branch leadership team.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS in Education or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Prior work experience with staff scheduling and training preferred.
  • Submission of NYS Medical Statement of Childcare Staff Form documenting physician clearance to work in a childcare setting as well as TB Test which meets Health and Social Service requirement.
  • 1 year of full time teaching experience in a child day care center, a family or group family day care home or other early childhood program.
  • 2 years experience withBudget management, staff supervision, and program development.
  • 1 year of staff scheduling and training.
  • Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
