Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Operating Officer and consistent with the Christian Principles and Mission of the YMCA, lead and administer the Active Afterschool, Men and Women of Distinction, KidZone, YMCA Easter Seals (YES), Summer Day Camp, and related childcare programs.  This includes teamwork, personnel management, program development and execution, budget development and management, and actively participating in annual fundraising activities, marketing activities, and soliciting of sponsorships for childcare related programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Exemplify daily the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of department staff.
  • Work in close coordination with other department directors as well as peer staff at other local YMCAs.
  • Oversee and manage the recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of all staff serving in Active Afterschool, Men & Women of Distinction Afterschool, YMCA Easter Seals Afterschool, KidZone, Summer Day Camp, and other afterschool programs.
  • Develop and lead programs consistent with all local, state, federal regulatory agencies, and maintain required records.
  • Actively participate in all staff functions, special events, and community events as requested or assigned.
  • As a member of the Program Committee, attend and participate in all scheduled meetings.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with area schools, churches, civic groups, YMCA's, local government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Responsible for developing and executing annual budget; working closely with Business Office.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of tools such as Word, Power Point, and Excel.
  • Responsible for maintaining and procuring necessary childcare equipment and facilities.
  • As necessary is expected to drive Childcare buses.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned or required.
Educational Background: 
High degree of human relations and interpersonal communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality when necessary.
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least two years' experience in conducting or supervising afterschool and day camp or related programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others and to be able to effectively resolve conflict situations.
  • Experience in developing and managing an annual budget.
  • Skills at identifying community needs, opportunities, and resources.
  • Ability to work as a team member and team leader.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and to work cross-functionally with other departments in the organization.
  • Professional appearance and behavior.
  • Ability to prioritize.
