This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. General administration of Before and After School Enrichment (BASE), Summer Day Camp, Fun & Snow Day programs. This position works directly with support staff to ensure all programs meet and exceed expectations. This position must understand Y member engagement strategies, fundraising and new program development. The director will incorporate caring, honesty, faith, respect and responsibility into all aspects of the program.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Create a vibrant cause-centered culture for staff and volunteers.
- Staff Development: Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, coach and evaluate staff. Lead and supervise the assistant child care director. Plan and conduct monthly staff meetings.
- Program/Curriculum development: Oversee the following: Before and After School Enrichment including several off-site locations, days off school, day camp and snow day programs. Responsibilities include developing curriculum and lessons to meet or exceed school content standards, ordering materials and supplies.
- Membership/Program Development: Create and facilitate informational materials and brochures as needed for promotional and public relations used in conjunction with branch marketing plans.
- Volunteer Development: Uses techniques and strategies for involving members and guests as volunteers. Implement Parent Volunteer committee.
- Quality Assurance: Implement recovery strategies; seek member/participant feedback through semiannual evaluations, work towards Mission Driven Quality Promise award.
- Financial Development: Support financial activities of the branch including the Annual Giving Campaign and United Way.
- Budget Management: Develops, administers and controls all program department budgets to meet or exceed budget targets. Work continually to secure new funding sources. Responsible for collections and following our collection policy.
- Facility Management: Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep and organization of all areas, including off site locations.
- Strategic Planning: Actively participate in the planning process for the branch.
- Recordkeeping: Monitors child payment records, purchasing procedures, financial aid, Title XX, USDA, daily attendance, volunteer database, volunteer hours, staff records and payroll. Responsible for Title XX and USDA reporting.
- State Licensing: Stay current and insure compliance with state licensing regulations.
- Step Up To Quality: Maintain star ratings at all sites and fulfill all Step Up to Quality requirements. Work on increasing star ratings at sites.
- Character Development: Implementation of YMCA character development Initiative in all areas of responsibility.
- Risk Management: Ensure the safety of staff and members using resources from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, Westbend Insurance, and other applicable risk management partners.
- Program Team: Serves on the branch leadership staff team. This includes bi-weekly management meetings, supporting team projects, active participation in your focus group and other assignments as delegated by supervisor.
Educational Background:
Degree in child development or early childhood education preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Candidate will possess qualifications as an administrator for childcare programs in accordance with ODJFS.
- Must have 2 years of experience in a related field.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse Prevention are required to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Must be committed to YMCA mission, values and philanthropic efforts.
Compensation/Benefits:
Hourly: $13.00 - $15.00
