The Marketing Director shall be responsible for implementing marketing strategies for the recruitment and retention of members, guests and program participants. The director will facilitate and track the results from all promotions of the impact on membership, programs and/or events.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Availability to work varied hours; early mornings, days, evenings and weekends.
  • Directs and oversees all operations related to marketing.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by developing and managing the marketing budget.
  • Establish a complete and thorough understanding of the YMCA brand compliance and guidelines.
  • Acts as the YMCA brand lead and is a resource to ensure all departments follow the set standards.
  • Assist and coordinate with each department’s programs and events with marketing strategies to maximize participation and attendance.
  • Develops, coordinates, and administers all YMCA promotions (printed materials, radio, digital, public service announcements, etc.).
  • Manage marketing of the Sate Street and Rise Vision signs.
  • Coordinates a marketing plan including specific promotions and support material within each YMCA department in a timely manner.
  • Provides marketing and support materials and assistance in planning for YMCA promotions, programs, events and activities.
  • Website development with on-going evaluation for updates for marketing all programs and services.
  • Track the return on investment to ensure marketing strategies are reaching the correct target market.
  • Has positive and open communication with staff and serves as a resource to all departments.
  • Develops and oversees the on-going distribution of all YMCA program and membership guides.
  • Attend programs and events to capture images and stories for use in marketing materials and media.
  • Manages a continual member communication such as newsletters, social media, website, etc.
  • Establish contact with media representatives to provide stories and submit press releases and/or photos when appropriate.
  • Acts as the public relations lead, building relationships in the community to foster partnerships.
  • Develop and manage lobby’s staff and Board bios.
  • A willingness to commit to the mission of the YMCA.
  • Promote YMCA membership, programs and services.
  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA’s mission, four core values and areas of focus into all marketing plans and strategies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members and the general public.
  • Responds to emergency situations in accordance with CPR, First Aid and Aberdeen Family YMCA policies and procedures.  Completes incident and accident reports as required.
  • Be involved in community activities to the benefit of the YMCA and its programs.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and/or related meetings and approved trainings.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Actively participates in YMCA events.
  • Work Manager on duty (MOD) shifts as assigned.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Four year Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Previous professional experience in marketing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • CPR-PR (CPR for the Professional Rescuer) Certification.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Strong graphic design background.
  • Proficient use of computers and working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail.
  • Experience with basic HTML editing.
  • Experience with web design and social media outlets.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects at one time.
