The Youth Development Center Director (YDC Director) is responsible for leading our Youth Development Center and Child Care Programs. This position is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision, and development of all related child care and day camp programs. This includes the careful selection and development of staff, meeting all licensing requirements, developing and implementing the program/curriculum content, budget development, sound fiscal management, evaluation, safety control, marketing and advertising, and strategic planning for future growth. - Community impact and member/parent/guardian engagement; develop a presence within the Youth Development Center and community to encourage interest and understanding in youth development programs.
- Implementation of youth curriculum that will focus on the development of the child’s social, physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
- Leadership and staff development; work with the staff to develop a comprehensive training and individual development plan for team members. Hire, train and schedule staff to meet program schedule demands.
- Manage and supervise staff working with programs at the Youth Development Center; including but not limited to the Business Coordinator, School Age Manager, lead teachers, and food preparation staff.
- Prepare annual budget for the Youth Development Center with assistance from CEO and Finance Manager; administer the approved budget and take appropriate action to correct variances.
- Manage the financial responsibilities associated with programs.
- Assist with marketing and distribution of program information.
- Program growth/retention and expansion; overall responsibility for creation and maintenance of programs and increase program enrollment and generate increased revenue.
- Develop and monitor payment guidelines; oversee/manage up-to-date client records and dues for the YDC.
- Ensure health and safety standards for the YDC are followed.
- Oversee and Implement all child safety/abuse trainings to staff and volunteers.
- Successfully complete all inspections and audits; ensure programs meet all State licensing requirements.
- Continually increase knowledge and development of class room curriculum in early childhood programs through reading, workshops, conferences, staff meetings and in-service training.
- Respond to all agency, parent, and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Promotes and incorporates the YMCA four core values and character development model into all program activities.
- Continue to support financial development of Aberdeen Family YMCA programs through United Way, Strong Kids Campaign and grant opportunities.
- Valid Driver’s License
- CPR-PR (CPR for Professional Rescuer), AED and First Aid certifications (trainings available through the YMCA)
- All basic level certifications
- Any additional certifications and/or trainings required by supervisor
Required Certifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Background in program administration, training and marketing.
- Skills in planning, organization, relationship building, recruiting, customer service and program development.
- Demonstrate a positive history of leadership in the areas of staff development, planning and innovation, budget development and management of fiscal control systems, financial development, strategic planning and community development.
- Individual must have proven ability to align and inspire people to set and reach goals, and implement innovative processes and successful programs.
- Experience responding effectively to sensitive inquiries and/or complaints.
