Responsible for the overall management of the Connecticut Cancer Partnership, working closely with key partners, including the Connecticut Department of Public Health. This position provides leadership and programmatic, management, and administrative support.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director, working with the Partnership Advisory Committee and its workgroups:

  • Leads writing, dissemination, and implementation of the Connecticut Cancer Plan.
  • Develops a strategic plan to address the goals and strategies of the Partnership.
  • Provides direction for and oversight of priority implementation initiatives for each area of the Cancer Plan.
  • Actively pursues opportunities to establish long-term sustainability and viability of Partnership.  Puts in place methods to monitor budgets and fiscal activities. Manages growth and expansion of Partnership.
  • Coordinates development and implementation of a plan for policy, systems and environmental change to advance the goals of the Partnership.
  • Develops and implements organizational policies and operational procedures.
  • Provides leadership of statewide partnership including key cancer control stakeholders in Connecticut.
  • Builds structures to facilitate complex collaborative partnerships and develop volunteer alliances to reach the goals of the Plan and to identify and recruit unrepresented or under-represented constituencies.
  • Acts as primary spokesperson of the Partnership.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS required OR 3 years of equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community organizing may be substituted for undergraduate degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience working in community or public health preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, implement and evaluate complex multifaceted activities, including budgets and advocacy activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and manage diverse interests of partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management and partners.
  • Demonstrated superior administrative and communications skills, ability to establish and manage priorities of complex, time-sensitive responsibilities.
