Child Survival Officer

Provide technical support to the FSTP project implementation team in the application of child survival project models (health, nutrition and WASH) to improve the well-being of the child in the municipality of Belladere.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work closely with the staff of the DDS (Departmental Sanitary Direction) of the municipality and develop partnerships with local authorities and heads of health centers and hospitals for the identification and monitoring of children with nutritional problems. (10%)
  • Train the ACPs working on the FSTP project on basic approaches and principles in Child Survival (health, nutrition and WASH). (10%)
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of community services in accordance with the MSPP guidelines formulated in the essential service package manual. Share the activity report with MSPP officials at the municipal level. (10%)
    • Conduct regular visits of children with nutritional problems in all areas of the project and ensure their recovery. 
  • Plan and coordinate weekly activities according to the project work plan in collaboration with the Child Survival Coordinator and the Project Manager. (10%)
  • Provide support in capacity building of medical staff at health centers using child survival project templates (stroke, medical volunteers, health care management) (10%)
  • Work with community drinking water systems in project intervention areas to implement the dashboard to monitor the quality of services provided (10%)
  • Ensure that a consolidated monthly report (data, success stories etc.) is produced with the indicators for all the activities of child survival in the municipality. (10%)
  • Produce requests for purchase of consolidated goods and services (POA), request for funds) and means of transport within the limits set by the institution. (5%)
  • Ensure that team assets (vehicles, buildings, resources) are managed according to standards. (5%)
  • Coordinate the community mobilization team and approve applications following the limit of approval. (10%)
Educational Background: 
University degree in nursing from a school recognized by the MSPP and a MSPP graduate or community health diploma
Community Health Training
Skills/Experience: 

Knowledge & Skill

  • Good mastery of basic software: Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Ability to write narrative and numerical reports
  • Have a strong sense of initiative
  • Experience or Ability to lead a team
  • Have a sense of responsibility and show a lot of interest in community work.
  • Ability and / or experience in supervision. Coaching and training as a health worker.

Experiences

  • Have at least one year of experience in a community health project or hold a degree in community health
  • Experience in team supervision
