The Specialist, Walk to End Alzheimer's, will provide integral support and coordination in the implementation for the Walk to End Alzheimer's for the Orange County Chapter. This position will be responsible for aiding in the planning and execution of a comprehensive fundraising campaign for Walk to End Alzheimer's, with duties to include recruitment of volunteer committee; cultivation and solicitation of walk teams and sponsors; coordination of promotion and marketing activities and management and implementation of all event logistics. The position will report to the Senior Associate Director, Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Ensure the Walk to End Alzheimer's meets its revenue and other benchmarking targets (i.e. team goals, participant goals, etc.) through the recruitment and retention of participants, sponsors and volunteers.
- Build relationships with community leaders, business owners and other service agencies for partnerships, volunteer recruitment, sponsor recruitment and other fundraising opportunities.
- In partnership with the Senior Associate Director, identify, cultivate and solicit sponsors.
- Assist in building and maintain relationships with key corporate sponsors and top fundraising teams year-round to ensure involvement in all relevant activities and recognition opportunities.
- Manage logistics for Walk to End Alzheimer's wrap around events Manage and coordinate day-of event logistics and participant's day-of Walk experience.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for all Walk related events and preparing benchmark reports for management.
- Ensure timely and efficient data entry and donation processing related to Walk.
- Mange all Convio-related needs, including e-blasts and landing pages. Provide support and assistance to participants with online registration, developing personal Walk websites, and questions related to team captain duties, donations and fundraising.
- Partner with the Communications Staff Lead for all Walk-related communications, including social media planning, e-news updates and other PR and marketing needs.
- Assist with marketing and promotion development. Collaborates with other key departments to ensure cross promotion, and support of, organizational goals and messages.
- Additional Job Responsibilities In partnership with the Director of Development, develop and manage a cultivation and stewardship plan to engage and grow support from entry-to mid-level donors.
- Develop and manage a year-round stewardship calendar for the Chapter.
- Promote employee education opportunities in local corporations in the community to generate awareness for the mission to grow potential partnerships.
- Look for opportunities to elevate each pillar of the strategic plan to help ensure a diverse and strong revenue stream.
Educational Background:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Skills/Experience:
- 3-5 years demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and coach volunteers in a fundraising environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships
- Demonstrated success in the development and promotion of fundraising events or similar programs
- Ability to sell the Association's programs and events to a variety of audiences, including corporate management, individual participants and volunteers
- Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of large events preferred
- Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
- Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
- Ability to travel occasionally throughout the area with some overnight and weekend travel required
- Ability to travel extensively as needed, within the territory and occasionally to out of state events.
