This position assists with the performance and success of awareness and concern components of the Alzheimer's Association's Strategic Plan. This will be accomplished by delivery of Association Programs and Services in the State of Arkansas. Delivery of the Alzheimer's Association core services as directed by the Common Program Plan. Developing collaborative initiatives with organizations and representing the Association's full mission in the community. This is a full-time position located in the Little Rock office.
Areas of Responsibility:
Programs & Services
- Deliver Common Program Plan programs and services throughout service area.
- Promote core services and programs of the Association (Helpline, website, care consultation, educational programs, support groups, etc.)
- Provide direct assistance to 24/7 Helpline callers with follow up from the Arkansas Chapter as needed.
- Network and develop collaborative initiatives in education, public awareness and family assistance with other organizations.
- Represent the Chapter at public events, conferences and media events as designated.
- Provide ongoing support to providers in dementia care, law enforcement and other professionals by providing education and training on dementia-related topics.
- Research and identify emerging dementia-related community needs to be addressed.
- Funding requests. Communicate any community funding opportunities.
- Some day and overnight travel.
Fundraising
- As a member of a small staff covering the state of Arkansas, everyone participates in varying degrees to the success and execution of fundraising activities.
- Assists event coordinator in the planning and executing Walk to End Alzheimer's within the territory to include team captain/walker recruitment and retention; promotion and marketing activities; and event logistics.
- Assists event coordinator in other special events including annual gala, with duties to include communicating with and providing material for volunteer committees;; tracking and invoicing ticket sales; promotion and marketing activities; assisting with event logistics.
- Prepare and distribute communications to volunteers and donors - via email, print, and telephone - based on the Association's communications timeline and additional needs.
- Obtain content for the weekly e-newsletter that represents activities of the Arkansas Chapter. Ensure editing activities are managed in accordance with e-news release deadlines.
- Provide design and layout services as needed for Chapter events and publications.
- Assists event coordinator in identifying, high impact volunteers who will assist the organization in increasing concern and awareness as well as growing revenue.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Three years experience and understanding of volunteer management, recruitment and retention.
- Strong background and interest in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
- Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in providing educational and informational presentations.
- Demonstrated experience in networking with collaborative agencies ad providers.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends and to travel as needed to perform job duties.
- Must possess a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of valid insurance to attend meetings and perform outreach duties.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
