The converging demographic trends of an aging population, policy changes requiring increased staffing hours, and the challenges of recruiting and retaining quality staff have created a workforce crisis in this sector. The staffing shortages impact all frontline, clinical and managerial positions employed in the continuum of aging services and senior living.
LeadingAge, a national association of not-for-profit aging services providers headquartered in Washington, DC, identified workforce development and growth as a strategic priority in 2019; this focus has intensified since the pandemic disproportionately affected the sector’s ability to recruit and retain staff across all settings. In response to this crisis, LeadingAge is seeking to hire a Director of Workforce Strategy and Development to lead strategic efforts in this arena. Working across thousands of LeadingAge members, our state affiliates, the Moving Forward Coalition, and colleagues from LeadingAge’s research, policy, education and communication departments, this position is responsible for facilitating the coordination of our efforts to improve the recruitment, retention, work experiences, and sustainability of a diverse, quality aging services caregiving workforce.
This position will work closely with our external stakeholders on workforce strategy & development within our member communities (Nursing homes, Life Plan Communities, Hospice & Palliative Care, Assisted Living, and the like)
The salary range for this D.C. based position is ($112,484-$118,404) based on a full-time, 37.5-hour work week for this exempt position. Salary offered may vary depending on relevant factors as determined by LeadingAge, which may include, but are not limited to, background and experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, certifications and licensures, internal equity, geographic location and other organizational needs.
