Manager, Capacity Building, New Business Development

The Manager for Business Development (BD) Capacity Building in the Portfolio Growth and Performance (PGP) department is a critical new position to implement the PGP’s learning strategy. Under the leadership and supervision of the Associate Director, Knowledge Management and Learning, the position will develop and deliver learning initiatives that aim to increase the skills and competency of staff in the field and in the U.S. to position for and acquire new competitive funding from USAID and other donors. He/she will contribute to communication, knowledge management, and coordination efforts required for accomplishing our capacity building goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Co-facilitate trainings to build staff capacity in BD through a blend of face-to-face and online/technology-assisted learning approaches. (25%)
  • Develop and refine learning materials and tools on key new business topics to address identified capacity gaps and to improve SCUS' ability to achieve its strategic goals. (25%)
  • Support the design and execution of pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate the outcomes of training sessions and prepare regular reports to highlight implementation achievements and challenges. (10%)
  • Execute PGP’s knowledge management strategy for BD, ensuring relevant and up-to-date job tools and resources are available for our target audiences in an accessible, user-friendly way. (15%)
  • Contribute to the positioning, capture planning, proposal development, and post-submission learning efforts for high-priority funding opportunities. (25%)
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Skills/Experience: 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in area of expertise.
  • Proven experience creating and delivering face-to-face trainings and webinars in cross-cultural contexts required.
  • Understanding of instructional design and adult learning methods and best practices.
  • Cross-collaboration and influence skills, preferably in a global and complex organization.
  • Understanding of knowledge management principles, practices, and platform.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and effectively lead multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent English skills.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • New Business Development experience, particularly in USAID context.
  • French or Spanish languages highly desired.
  • Understanding of International NGO operating contexts also a plus.
