Habitat for Humanity International, Inc. (HFHI) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Director, Operational Excellence. Reporting to the Vice President, U.S. and Canada, the Director would be a member of HFHI’s team that supports the work of our more than 1,300 U.S. based Habitat for Humanity affiliates. This position will be based at our administrative headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinating the combined work of the 12-member Operational Excellence team, consisting of a quality assurance/best practices team and compliance monitoring team
  • Managing the Quality Assurance process for the more than 1300 U.S. Habitat for Humanity affiliates
  • Developing and managing a "best practices" sharing system for U.S Habitat affiliates, tailored for affiliates of different market sizes and capacity levels
  • Redesigning national Affiliate Recognition Programs, and managing those programs going forward
  • Representing the Operational Excellence department at U.S. affiliate conferences and gatherings throughout the U.S.
  • Serving as the primary U.S. interface with the Enterprise Risk Management team and Internal Audit department at HFHI
  • Serving as the primary U.S. interface with staff responsible for Operational Excellence and compliance monitoring for international Habitat for Humanity organizations
  • Providing guidance, coaching, skills development planning and performance feedback on a regular basis for all direct reports
  • Interacting regularly with U.S. Council (affiliate leadership council) and acting as liaison for the U.S. Council Policy Committee
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10 years including experience in team management
  • Candidates should have strong leadership, interpersonal and supervisory skills; keen business acumen; excellent judgment and instincts; a strong work ethic and a positive outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Team management skills and experience
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a global, humanitarian, Christian organization

Preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of Habitat for Humanity International HQ and affiliate structure, mission, networks, and culture
