Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is recruiting a seasoned professional with solid business acumen to work with our Corporate Development team as the Director, Donated Products, based at our Administrative Headquarters office in downtown Atlanta, GA.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Relations, the Corporate Development Director, Donated Products is responsible for developing a national strategy to solicit and secure donations of gift in kind (GIK) product that can primarily be sold in Habitat's network of ReStore retail outlets across the US but may also be effective in Habitat’s new construction and home repair efforts. The director also researches and cultivates a multi-million dollar portfolio of prospects while managing a small team of fundraising professionals. This highly collaborative position interfaces with Habitat’s senior leadership, external firms, affiliates, partners and their agencies to maximize gift in kind donation opportunities primarily through strategic partnerships with companies within the home furnishings and building construction industries.

Overall business and sales experience is a plus as well as management of a small team.
Planning and Leadership
- Define an overall development/sales strategy nationally working closely with the Senior Director of Corporate Relations to develop specific action plans for each priority industry. Develop effective strategies to meet assigned individual GIK and ReStore Merchandise revenue goals by securing new partnerships and growing commitments from existing partners. Mentor and lead direct report(s).
Development Functions
- Prospecting and Qualifying - Conduct systematic and ongoing prospecting activities to maintain an adequate pipeline of potential partnerships. Qualify prospects and design effective partnership programs based upon knowledge of partner's business environment and objectives, as well as Habitat capabilities and value proposition. Develop personal relationships with senior managers and C-level executives in Fortune 500 companies and other large organizations in targeted industries. Proactively seek out networking opportunities and establish relationships with business and community leaders in major metropolitan areas. Work closely with ReStore Affiliate Committee to confirm product is priority before pursuing. Follow the collaborative development guidelines for Habitat for Humanity entities and alliances nationally and ensure team members are following as well. Establish strong relationships with affiliates and HFHI regional and program staff.
- Developing Proposals and Executive Presentations - Write compelling proposals and oversee the development of creative presentations and reports. Drive well-qualified opportunities through HFHI processes and secure necessary internal approvals from HFHI leaders. Present partnership proposals to senior executives to secure large, long-term commitments for Gifts-in-Kind and ReStore Merchandise. Must exhibit strong leadership abilities and a confident public speaking style. Work closely with Corporate Relations team to serve as SME for existing or expanded partnerships.
- Closing and Negotiation - Develop successful closing strategies and negotiate partnership agreements to protect HFHI interests and meet long term partner business needs. Work closely with legal, finance and logistics to define parameters for agreements and reporting requirements.
- Ongoing Executive level Relationship Management: Function as the primary executive liaison in all partnerships and alliances nationally. Remain actively engaged with partner senior executives in post-implementation phases and throughout the life of the partnership. Define strategies to expand Habitat’s role in existing partnerships to maximize the return for both Habitat and Partner. Seek high-quality referrals from executive contacts and ensure thorough and professional follow-up.
Expense Management, Reporting and Administration
- Effectively manage HFHI resources including travel. Provide complete and accurate activity/pipeline reports, revenue forecasts and situation analysis as required by the Senior Director.
- Requires 8-10 years in corporate sales and/or sales management, ideally within the construction products and/or retail industry.
- Experience securing complex, six- and seven-figure multi-year commitments from Fortune 500 companies.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to solve complex problems using structured thinking.
- Solution-oriented with commitment to delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
- Strong attention to detail/organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of principles of corporate social responsibility, sponsorship and philanthropy.
- Requires proficiency in all MS Office applications.
- Working knowledge of BBEC and Team Approach, strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of and passion for Habitat's worldwide mission.
