The Donor Services Manager is responsible for maintaining relationships with individual donors and event planning, working with the Deputy Director of Individual Giving and Director of Advancement and Planning to strengthen and broaden Signature’s donor base.
The Donor Services Manager assumes primary responsibility for day-to-day contact with individual donors and executes membership benefits for the Friends of Signature donor program. The successful candidate also manages special events, program engagement and outreach activities for donors, and is the liaison for communication with the Board of Directors. This position is based at Signature Theatre’s administrative offices in Arlington, VA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Giving
- Managers and executes a season-long plan for donor events and benefits, along with the Development team
- Ensures donor benefits at Signature Theatre are well executed.
- Utilizes Tessitura database for donations, membership and event records
- Ensures donor recognition listings in the program and on lobby signage are up-to-date, and well presented.
Special Events Duties
- Coordinate and execute logistics for development events including the Annual Sondheim Award Gala, Opening Nights, Donor First Glimpses, and other in-person and virtual/hybrid events as needed.
- Serves as the main point of contact for special event vendors.
- Coordinate and maintain invitation and RSVP lists with Deputy Director of Individual Giving and Deputy Director of Institutional Giving
- Writes and sends both electronic and mailed invitations and reminders
- Coordinates and directs vendors, other Signature staff, and volunteers at events
Donor & Board Liaison
- Maintains communication with donors about events, renewals, and benefit levels
- Handles day-to-day needs of individual donors – including ticketing (with the Box Office), questions about donations, general inquiries, and RSVPs.
- Serves as the staff liaison for the Board of Directors in partnership with the Director of Advancement and Planning and Signature’s Managing Director.
- Works with Ever After Society donors, Signature’s planned giving donors.
- Schedules and coordinates hospitality needs for Full Board meetings, Board committee and task force meetings, and Board-related social events.
Administrative Duties
- Works with the Business Office to reconcile special event and board-related expenses.
- Maintains the donor database, in coordination with the Development Manager and Box Office.
- Assists with copywriting and editing Development materials and publications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES
- Highly motivated, energetic, independent self-starter and team player
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive with outstanding problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Ability to interact with staff and donors in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, and efficient
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Strong computer proficiency (donor database management experience a plus)
- 1-3 years of experience in a development or marketing department at a non-profit organization preferred
- Frequent evening and weekend work is required
Compensation
Signature Theatre offers a salary between $50,000- $55,000 annually, with excellent benefits including medical, dental, disability and life insurance; vacation, sick and parental leave; as well as complimentary and discount tickets.
