The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a MANAGER, PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP for our FELLOWS IN TRAINING PROGRAM (FIT) at our NATIONAL CENTER office located in DALLAS, TX .

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded position. Current funding is through 6/30/2019

The FELLOWS IN TRAINING (FIT) PROGRAM MANAGER ‘s goal is to understand the wants and needs of Fellows and attempt to significantly improve the engagement of Cardiology Fellowship Directors in AHA and to then leverage their engagement to recommend the AHA’s programs, assets and healthcare influence to their Fellows as THE ASSOCIATION from which they can advance their careers, stay current and make relevant contributions to science and the health of their communities and the world.

The FELLOWS IN TRAINING (FIT) PROGRAM MANAGER sets the overarching vision and drives accompanying strategies to assure the successful implementation of AHA’s FIT Program and the achievement of educational, marketing, programming, participation and financial outcomes. The (FIT) Program Manager leverages a deep understanding of Fellows and their Program Directors participants, their requirements, market competition and regional cardiovascular learning needs to strategically steer the planning, programs and promotion of the FIT Program. The FIT Program Manager works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary staff team to assure that the FIT Program delivers winning results across several dimensions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Understand the unique market needs of each targeted Fellowship Program and develop strong relationships with staff and member leaders involved in the Fellows in Training program.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive, integrated timeline of milestone events for planning and promoting the Program.
  • Explore funding opportunities and obtain funding commitments for the Fellows in Training Program.
  • Issue regular progress reports to departmental and OSO Sr. Leadership on progress of program, including programming, institutional participation, conference attendance and engagement of Fellows and Fellowship Directors in Affiliate and Council activities
  • Issue an annual report, delineating the metrics for success, the levels and areas of achievement, marketing, issues and financial outcomes.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare or a related field of study
Master’s degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare or a related field of study.
  • Minimum of five (5) years Project/Program Management experience in a Non-profit.
  • Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations and act decisively
  • Strategic thinker, problem-solver with an analytical orientation
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity in the performance of assigned tasks
  • Attention to detail and dedication to excellence in the Fellows in Training participant experience
  • Understanding of business, including experience growing profitability of programmatic activity
  • A natural team player who works well with clinicians, executives, contractors, consultants and staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience with drafting original business correspondence, meeting minutes and agendas. Active listening skills.
  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 10% of the time.
