Our short-term service trips allow volunteers to meet people from around the world with all different kinds of backgrounds, races and religions. These trips allow volunteers to explore the differences in housing and lifestyle, but also discover commonalities, even they don’t speak the language.

Habitat’s Global Volunteer Engagement and Support department works to engage volunteers through the Global Village and Collegiate Challenge programs, as well as other trips opportunities. These trips, done in groups help support Habitat’s ongoing homebuilding efforts in the US and world-wide while also giving volunteers a chance to have an ongoing financial, emotional and physical contribution to a community that can be life-changing for the volunteer and the community.

What will you build?
As a Marketing Intern - Short Term Volunteer Trips, you will support the creation and implementation of a marketing strategy to increase the visibility of the trip programs at Habitat. The position will work directly with Habitat’s Partner Engagement team in Habitat’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. You will learn how a large, global non-profit balances promotion of certain programs while maintaining its focus on the mission of providing safe, decent, affordable housing. You will focus on supporting the creation of the two-year marketing plan by conducting research on past participation and competitors, analyzing data, and developing creative and on brand messaging and promotions. You will also support the development of tools and resources for our country and US affiliate partners to utilize to marketing their sites to trip volunteers.

*This position is approx. 15-20 hours/week, paid internship based at our headquarters in Atlanta, GA
*This internship can be a January – May 2018 or January – August 2018 (preferred)
*We are flexible and can discuss the set days/hours and length of internship

Primary Responsibilities:
· Support the creation of promotion and marketing plan for short-term trip programs through:o Research of innovative ways to promote trip programs: Collegiate Challenge and Global Village to new volunteers
o Conduct market research on communication outlets, pricing and range of messaging
o Monitor open rate and all messaging data and analyze to help inform future tools/outlets
o Develop promotions calendar including in-person events, special focus days, outgoing message dates and program deliverable dates
o Collaborate with and support the Volunteer Marketing Specialist on planning and project implementation· Assist with and participate in Volunteer and Institutional Engagement (VIE) division communications and data groups as needed
· Monitor department email inboxes and phone calls as needed
· Participate in department calls, meetings and events as assigned
· Attend in-person promotional events as needed/available

Minimum Qualifications:
· Current undergraduate or graduate student
· Understanding of communications and/or marketing
· Experience managing social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram)
· Ability to conduct research
· Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
· Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous communications or marketing
· Experience in volunteer engagement or volunteer program design/development

A successful candidate will be able to fully engage on all aspects of a developing and implementing a marketing plan that will help to increase volunteer involvement from 13,000 to 20,000 by 2020. In addition to marketing, you will be exposed to other aspects of Habitat’s short-term trips and the volunteer management efforts done to provide the world with adequate, affordable shelter.
