The 5th Avenue Theatre is seeking a Grant Writing Specialist to join the Philanthropy Department. This role secures contributed income by developing and writing grant proposals to foundations, corporate foundations, government agencies, and addition funding sources. The Grant Writer submits grant requests and reports, ensures proper recognition of funders, conducts prospect research, and maintains a calendar of submissions and other deadlines. The ideal candidate is a skilled, strong, and incredibly persuasive writer. They have a bias towards teamwork and collaboration, and are excited to work in the world of musical theater.

- Develop and write grant proposals that include rational and emotionally compelling articulation of The 5th’s case for support.
- Gather necessary information and write final grant reports, complete forms, and gather supplemental materials for preparation of required funding agency reports.
- Research, identify, and pursue new sources of funding compatible with the organization’s mission and programming.
- Ensure all submission and reporting deadlines are met.
- Maintain annual calendar for grant submissions.
- Coordinate with other departments including Artistic, New Musicals, Education and Engagement, Production, and Facilities, to access programmatic information and create accurate, persuasive, well-written proposals.
- Assist with preparation of materials for special campaigns, including capital campaigns.
- Communicate and complete necessary paperwork to notify the Philanthropy and Finance departments of all corporate, foundation, and government donations.
- Work within the Tessitura database to maintain a tracking system for institutional support including relevant dates, progress made, and any personal contact information.
- 1-3 years of persuasive writing experience. Alternatively, demonstrate relevant experience and acquired skill set needed to succeed in necessary writing.
- Exemplary writing and verbal communications skills.
- Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and have experience using online databases to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to synthesize information in a compelling manner
- Ability to create strong, productive relationships with a wide variety of people including staff, artists, board members, and donors.
- Adherence to the highest ethical standards including safeguarding confidential information and trusted relationships.
- Demonstrated passion for the arts and, ideally, musical theater.
- A high level of computer literacy required, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite. Skills in Tessitura desired.
$57,000-$62,000 Annually
