About Us
Mission:

The Double H Ranch, co-founded by Charles R. Wood and Paul Newman, provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses. All programs are FREE of charge and capture the magic of the Adirondacks.

Programs:

The Double H Ranch runs an eight-week long summer camp program for children.  Children attend for five days and then a new group of campers arrives after a 2.5-day break.  We serve up to 90 kids per week and have staff and volunteers providing direct supervision of the campers and activities.

In the winter months, we run an adaptive winter sports program that offers children and their families an opportunity to learn how to ski or snowboard at our facility.  We have adaptive equipment, highly trained volunteer instructors, and a committed group of staff that run this program.

The fall and spring are busy at camp as well, we host family-based retreat programs for families who have a child with a chronic or serious illness.  At these retreats, families participate in many camp activities and participate in whole group activities.

All year long we have our Outreach Program which takes camps to various hospital programs, and community events and allows the camp to meet our kids where they are at.

Why Work For Us?:

The major selling point in working at Double H is the population of children we serve and their families.  We provide meaningful experiences to children who are dealing with a serious or chronic condition.  Our motivation to work hard and to provide for these campers comes directly from walking through the camp and seeing kids have fun, laugh and enjoy their childhood.

We also are a committed and hardworking group of employees.  We know what it's like to make things work on a fixed budget, we recruit the best staff and volunteers (we are all a little biased), and we always put the kids first in any decision we make.

The Double H Ranch provides all of its employees with opportunities to grow as non-profit professionals, whether that's attending the in-person conference through the American Camping Association or the SeriousFun Network or in-services provided on camp.  We believe that the growth and development of leadership skills are crucial to the success of the program.
