General Summary

The Development Associate plays a key leadership role in achieving budgetary and strategic goals as part of the Alzheimer's Association Greater Dallas Chapter's strategic plan. They are responsible for leading the Chapter's Constituent event(s) managing the development and execution of the Chapters Longest Day recruitment and retention efforts. They are accountable for the achievement of income performance targets through the effective leadership, engagement, empowerment, and mobilization of a volunteer Team Task Force. Under the guidance of the Director of Development, This position will be responsible for revenue generation through the Association's Constituent Event, The Longest Day and will collaboratively work with and mentor volunteers and recruit, train and manage high level volunteer planning committees to lead the events in their respective communities. They will also cultivate, develop and retain existing and new corporate partnerships. This position reports to the Development Director.

Essential Job Functions

The Longest Day (75%):

  • Engages, trains and manages relationships with community based leadership volunteers (either chapter wide or regionally based) to develop and execute a local recruitment, cultivation and retention plan for new and veteran Longest Day teams
  • Completes activities effectively and efficiently to meet target deadlines for successful event execution
  •  Implements best practices for leadership development, increased participation and event revenue growth; drives creativity and innovation at the community/chapter level.
  • Develops and demonstrates skills in community organization, relationship building, talent identification and leadership development.
  • Collaborates with other key departments to ensure cross promotion and support of organizational goals and/or messages
  • Identifies trends and best practices; measures impact of specific actions; identifies and addresses issues as they arise and adjusts plans as required
  • Utilizes available resources to maximize event results
  • Participates in webinars, conference calls and/or trainings offered by the Association for The Longest Day working with cross functional team members to insure inclusion of The Longest Day within Chapter promotional/communications channels including email, social media, e-News; public relations and local marketing efforts
  •  Ensures compliance with Alzheimer's Association policies and procedures
Constituent Events other (20%):
  • Assist the department's other Constituent Events (Walk to End Alzheimer's) in a support capacity during its walk season.
Third Party Events (5%):
  • Tracks, monitors and provides appropriate support as needed

Minimum Requirements

KEY EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree; Marketing or Communications preferred Minimum 2 years' experience in developing and executing holistic event strategies
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with event production and management, volunteer development and management, public relations, donor cultivation and relations, corporate sponsor cultivation and relations
  • Knowledge of Team Approach, Raiser's Edge, Convio and/or other databases helpful, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite: Mail, Calendar, Docs and Hangouts
  •  Demonstrated project and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated expertise recruiting and managing volunteers preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
  • Possess valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance

  • Strong listening skills; friendly, helpful manner with clients.
  • Remains composed under stress, handles criticism tactfully and delivers on organizational commitments
