PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of the position is to implement, monitor the hygiene interventions within World Vision’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program in the Bekaa area, and improve the hygiene practices of the community.

Follow up with the Mother Action Groups (MAG’s) on the project activities.
Coordinate with the hygiene Coordinator in implementing the project’s common activities in order to ensure integrity in the quality of World Vision’s Hygiene program intervention.
Identify and assess the hygiene needs of the Lebanese host communities and Syrian refugees in the target areas
Respond to the needs determined by the assessment.
Conduct hygiene promotion sessions when needed.
Document and report on conducted activities to ensure that needs assessed are being effectively responded to and that interventions are being documented.
Plan and coordinate the capacity building of the MAGs.
Assist in the preparation of the MAGs’ training material.
Regular Field and spot check visits to monitor the implementation of the activities in the Schools and in the target areas
Develop educational material to ensure effective behavioral approaches (banners, guidelines, flyers, stickers for the kids at schools, posters in schools, etc.).
Ensure new MAGs are trained before starting implementation
Planning, coordinating and implementing of all the hygiene promotion awareness events (location, invitation, , sessions, activities, and distribution)
Follow up with MAGS on the data related to attendance sheets, distribution lists, daily, weekly and monthly reports and compile them.
Plan hygiene promotion initiatives depending on the needs of the context ensuring that technical and social aspects of water and sanitation programming are integrated.
Forging good relationships with the BWE and the municipalities to ensure a better and effective liaison between all stakeholders and water users.
Plan, implement and document all community events in coordination with the municipalities
Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards
Timing implementation of project interventions to the target beneficiaries, while continually learning and adjusting the operational approaches.

Forging relationships with key people in the community, stakeholders and community leaders to ensure proper implementation.
Regular meetings with MAGs to communicate new technical topics.
Mobilize, motivate and encourage potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members about good health and hygiene practices.
Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members.

Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Hygiene coordinator on project progress against work plan.
Document and share lessons learned with the hygiene coordinator local community members, and local stakeholders.
Project progress is regularly and accurately reported to Project Manager for decision making and accountability

Security management responsibilities:
Responsible of the day-to-day security management
Abide by the security procedures and policies and report any breaches
Participate in personal safety training as required
HEA responsibilities:
Be aware of emergency procedures in a response,
Other duties:
Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally if any
Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture events and other organizational events

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in a WASH and health related field (Preferred: Public Health, Nursing, Teaching etc.) or a Bachelor’s degree in another field with 2 years complimentary WASH and health experience.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Good written and oral communication skills (English & Arabic)
Proven ability to build capacity of partners/ stakeholders through formal trainings and informal job shadowing and mentoring
Ability to monitor work of project-hired contractors
Good interpersonal skills
Must have cross-cultural sensitivity, problem solving and negotiation skills.
Must have a genuine concern to help the Syrian Refugees
Good team building skills; a creative, innovative, and adaptability personality.

Relevant Experience in relief project implementation or relevant experience in a job with transferable skills (e.g. nursing, plumber, teaching).
Experience in local community and within an NGO context (strongly preferred).
Has strong knowledge of core principles of Children Rights, Participation, Do No Harm, as well as Children in Emergencies minimum standards.
Has strong knowledge about WASH distribution
