PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is based in Addis Ababa with some travel to the field and internationally and reports to the Grant Acquisition Management (GAM) Director. Its primary purpose is to provide leadership in the acquisition of new non-sponsorship projects (grants, corporate funds, and major donor funds) so that World Vision Ethiopia can increase its contributions to child well-being through increased revenue in its key priority sectors. The Resource Development and Donor Relations Manager will lead in the implementation of the WV Ethiopia GAM Business Plan and Strategy, ensuring resource diversification, strengthened donor networking and resource acquisition capabilities for World Vision Ethiopia. Working closely with technical specialists in each sector, he or she will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of grant acquisition processes, leading in proposal development and donor liaison and will track grants acquisition performance metrics. He or she will build the capacity of other staff in resource acquisition, and provide backstopping support to projects as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant Acquisition:
- Lead and serve as proposal manager for development of high quality proposals and concepts for government and institutional donors in line with NO strategy and capacities in development, humanitarian and recovery programming sectors by working closely with Project Managers, Technical Specialists and Finance team.
Donor and Partner Engagement and Positioning:
- Monitor the donor landscape, maintaining a detailed knowledge of donor environment and funding mechanisms, and keep abreast of changes in the funding landscape.
Staff Capacity Building:
- Provide leadersip to team members and help develop them through mentoring and rigorous performance management.
Grant Operations and Business Process Improvement Support:
- Lead in development and improvement of business processes, templates, RACI, to improve grant acquisition and management performance.
General:
- Attend and participate in weekly devotions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education:
- University Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Development Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, Management or a related field). Master´s degree in a relevant field is a strong advantage.
Required Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience with relief and development programmes. Experience in a developing country is a strong advantage.
Skills/Abilities:
- Written and oral fluency in English is a requirement.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Some experience working on grants, particularly US government grants, is preferred.
Work Environment:
- The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 15-20% of the time.
