We have an excellent opportunity for a Corporate Development (Fundraising) Director-Heart Walk in our San Antonio, TX office. Your work will include fundraising responsibilities, as well as planning, implementing and evaluating the local Heart Walk campaign. The Heart Walk brings together corporate partners, medical leaders, and high-level volunteers of the community to raise over $2 million for research, education and awareness of heart disease and stroke; the number #1 and #5 killers in America. You will have a planned net fundraising goal of $400k in your territory of San Antonio and the surrounding counties.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Developing relationships with executive c-suite volunteers, sponsors, key corporate and community leaders.
  • Goal setting with corporate companies and individuals to raise funds and awareness.
  • Revenue generation through sponsorship and participants’ individual fundraising.
  • Recruiting and retaining valued sponsors and c-suite volunteers.
  • Conducting sales calls to generate new business and manage existing companies.
  • Coordinating event efforts as needed.
  • Networking within the local area.
  • Travel approximately 75% of the time driving locally.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree
Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years’ experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2+ years’ of experience in a similar role. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
  • Able to lift at least 20 lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of complex meeting management.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communications skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs; to work independently and take initiative; to creatively and effectively solve problems; to meet and interact with all levels of AHA staff and volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, knowledge of database programs a plus.
  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Proven track record in meeting sales/fundraising goals.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends when necessary with reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Non-smoking environment.
  • Local community networking and contacts.
