SUMMARY
The Development Operations Coordinator is an integral member of the development team, whose primary roles are executing detailed gift and records processes and analyzing data. Essential to the success of the development team, duties include recording and acknowledgment of gifts, tracking pledges and payments, proper entry of donor plans and interactions into the opera’s database, and the coordination of data between the development, finance, and marketing teams. In addition to timely processing of donations, gift acknowledgements and pledge reminders, the Development Operations Coordinator provides prospect research, analyzes data to identify donor and ticket buyer prospects, and pulls and organizes lists, helping to evaluate information with the development and marketing teams, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with best practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process gifts, pledges, and payments daily.
- Manage the gift acknowledgment process, ensuring the timely processing of acknowledgement letters, forms, cards, receipts, donor benefits, and premiums across all Atlanta Opera fundraising campaigns.
- Assist donors with gift inquiries, providing information and materials as requested.
- Prepare weekly reports for the Development & Management Teams including contribution, solicitation, cash flow, and campaign reports.
- Maintain the integrity of donor records in the Opera’s Tessitura database.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all donor records and TAO financial information.
- Manage data entry and tracking, reports, list management, extractions, and other tasks as assigned to provide support to the Development Team.
- Using electronic screening and data-mining techniques, identify prospects for major gifts, endowed gifts, special project funding, and annual/sustaining support.
- Conduct research on individual, corporate, and foundation philanthropic prospects according to affinity, capacity, and inclination. Provide written reports about specific donors and prospects, synthesizing information from multiple sources into coherent and accurate profiles.
- Create and manage portfolio reports, dashboards, and metrics tabulations for the activities with the Chief Advancement Officer and gift staff
- Maintain the General Ledger Codes, Funds, Campaigns, Source Codes, Elevated Events, Attributes, Constituencies, and other essential elements of the Tessitura database
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications Department to integrate ticket holder data into development pipeline.
- Maintain policies and procedures for gift processing and acknowledgment, development reporting, data entry, data integrity, prospect research, and other policies and procedures essential to the efficient operation of The Atlanta Opera’s development team.
- Provide administrative support as needed to the Chief of Advancement and other development staff as needed.
- Attend, support, and participate in fundraising events in conjunction with and separate from Opera performances.
- Coordinate with finance and ticketing services to improve efficiencies in all development functions and patron relationships.
- Be well informed on all current opera programs and activities, and the expansion planning objectives of the opera to represent them to prospects and donors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- One to two years of experience in a development role, with emphasis on the competencies listed above.
- Proficiency with all Office Suite software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Adobe Acrobat experience a plus.
- Experience managing data.
- Tessitura database experience a plus.
- Position requires evening and weekend obligations during the opera season.
- Ability to sit at a desk for up to and over eight hours per day.
- Ability to communicate using a phone and headset.
- Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.
$40,000 - $50,000, BOE
