Summary

The Senior Coordinator, Donor Communications, provides written donor communications (concept notes, proposals, reports, fact sheets, letters, etc.) that Resource Development fundraisers require to solicit funds from high-net-worth donors and to steward ongoing relationships with these donors. Position may also work collaboratively with fundraisers and program staff to develop donor material around a specific program sector or new business opportunity. Position may also support donor communications during emergencies. Requires strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, ability to translate complex program language into donor-friendly content, and ability to work closely with supervisor. May work on several projects simultaneously, requiring good time management skills.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Essential Duties:

  • The Senior Coordinator edits or revises donor materials drafted by program and country office staff to ensure their readability and clarity, are grammatically correct, donor-friendly and branded so that they best represent our agency. Requires regular interaction with both program/country office staff and fundraisers. 40% of time
  • Researches and writes original content for concept notes, reports, fact sheets, and other special donor communications projects as requested by fundraisers and supervisor. Requires close coordination with fundraisers and program staff. 40% of time.
  • Writes custom donor acknowledgement letters/emails from our president to foundation and corporate donors. Requires close coordination with fundraisers so that communications reflect our unique relationship with the donor. Requires comfort in writing in the president’s voice and close attention to accuracy and detail. Perform other duties as may be required. 20% of time.

 

 

Decision-making:

Position uses judgment in editing and revising material. When drafting original content, judgement in use of appropriate information and making decisions in consultation with supervisor. Responsible for ensuring that donor materials are of the highest quality and represent Save the Children commensurate with our standing as a global NGO. Position works under the supervision and direction of the Advisor, Donor and Corporate Fundraising and the Senior Communications Specialist.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum three to five years’ experience as a writer required, with strong editing skills
  • High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and cross-culturally with fundraisers and global Save the Children program staff, think creatively and meet tight deadlines
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Understanding of non-profit fundraising and global development issues are highly desirable
  • Ability to understand and communicate information to high-net-worth foundation, corporate and individual donors
  • Must be a team player and able to work well in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS preferred, with English, journalism, communications, or related studies

  • Highly attentive to quality, with excellent organizational and time management skills
