Summary
The Manager, Federal Government Relations (GR), Early Childhood Education (ECE) will work on the federal ECE issue portfolio to advance ECE legislative initiatives. He/she will work with the Director of Federal Government Relations to research and develop materials for use in outreach on SCAN’s ECE priorities. The manager will assist with outreach at the federal level with the Hill, Administration and organizations that align with SCAN’s ECE priorities. The Manager will assist the Director of Government Relations with implementing legislative strategy and initiatives. He/she will work closely with the Director of GR, Director of State GR, ECE, other SCAN departments and Save the Children’s United States Programs & Advocacy (USPA).
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
- Coordinate ECE Issue Portfolio (35%) The Manager will work on the ECE federal issue portfolio to ensure that initiatives are coordinated and accomplished in a timely manner. He/she will carry out legislative strategies under the direction of the Director of GR to advance SCAN priorities. The Manager will be the liaison to existing ECE Coalitions.
- Assist with External Relationships (25%) The Manager, under supervision of the Director, Federal Government Relations, will assist with developing and maintaining bipartisan and bicameral relationships on Capitol Hill with a focus on key committees of jurisdiction and members in leadership. This also includes relationships with federal agencies and the ECE advocacy community.
- Develop Advocacy & Educational Materials (30%) The Manager will work with the Director, Federal Government Relations, to research and develop educational materials to provide to our congressional targets and the Administration on our ECE legislative policy. This also includes developing update materials, appropriations forms, one-pagers, and other documents.
- Internal Coordination with SCAN & USPA (15%) The Manager will work closely with the Director of Government Relations and the Director of State GR, ECE to ensure federal and state strategy are coordinated and appropriately aligned. He/she will work with the Mobilization and Communications teams to develop outreach materials to generate grassroots and grass-tops support for influencing federal policy.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in area of expertise
- Bachelor of Arts Degree
