Director, Financial Reporting and Analytics

Summary

The Director, Financial Reporting & Analytics will oversee financial reporting across all three business lines of USP, analyze and report performance to management, preparing financial forecasts and dashboards, managing audit functions, and providing strategic guidance. He/she will serve as the point of contact for all financial-related matters and serve as an advisor to the AVP, USPA, customizing reports and providing accurate, up-to-date data to inform management decision-making.

 

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters
  • After approval by their senior management, objectives are implemented independently, with management support, to determine accomplishment, key milestones and overall success
  • Functional based policy and practices exist. Incumbent is provided with the "why" and often determines the "what", but must always determine the "how"

Financial Reporting and Analysis (35%)

  • Prepare monthly financial performance reports including, but not limited to, budget vs. actual, forecast expenses, and trends
  • Develop effective new tools to communicate financial information to a variety of stakeholders, evaluating need from each department
  • Provide financial and strategic guidance to USPA leadership team
  • Conduct regular analysis of financial data to identify and address risks and opportunities
  • Revenue analysis
  • Coordinate with fundraising teams to identify need and develop annual targets
  • Compile long-range forecast model
  • Manage 990 and provide audit support

Budget Management (20%)

  • Facilitate USPA budgeting process to ensure resources are efficiently used and budgets are properly allocated
  • Provide up-to-date information and analysis to management
  • Create and update templates for budgeting
  • Support Agresso financial system management and maintenance

Team Leadership (15%)

  • Provide ongoing guidance to employees for development and direction
  • Set performance standards for stakeholder support
  • Ensure new finance employees are oriented to the organization, its policies and facilities
  • Monitor systems of controls and efficiencies both financially and business operations
  • Goal tree and budget management for USPA Finance

GIK (15%)

  • Oversee the GIK end-to-end process for USPA
  • Ensure GIK resources are leveraged to support USPA strategy, and prioritize budget relieving GIK to maximize utilization and use for match
  • Work with USP RD and SCUS GIK teams to inform needs list, and policies and procedures based on behalf of the division

Emergency (15%)

  • Serve as the strategic finance and business operations partner for Emergency-related work
  • Provide financial support including budget management, revenue management, and financial reporting.
  • Ensuring finance staff capacity is prepared for supporting emergency response and able to deploy as needed.
  • Manage proposal budgets and revenue for awards acquired for emergency responses.
  • Work with SCUS AP team to ensure cash resources are adequate and available during the initial phases of a response.
  • Support emergency audits and resolution of findings.

 

Required Qualifications

  • You have a minimum 7-10 years' experience in area of expertise
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong Level of Technical and/ or Managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to direct the operational activities of a Unit or Team, or provide technical advice, guidance and management related to various size programs, grants or projects.
  • Experience managing Head Start sub-awards to partners or other entities
  • Solid understanding of US government regulations, nonprofit OMB Circulars, and GAAP

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A creative, self-starter who has the ability to support multiple stakeholders by providing sound financial data and guidance
  • Ability to work with staff at various levels, in various locations, and to demonstrate the importance of upholding financial policies and procedures
  • Willingness to travel to Head Start programs and centers 4-6 times per year, or as needed
  • Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, and team skills. An in-depth understanding and problem-solving approach to financial management as it relates to complex, multifunctional budgets.
  • Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and capably handle/juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
